There's a few things that you can do:

1. Contact customer support and I've read that they have made certain exceptions in the past, but haven't heard of any for "I don't want to wait" they've been hardship cases.
2. Sell it on the grey market (ie; ebay, reddit, etc) (provided that it's giftable)
3. Sell it to someone on SimHQ. (provided that it's giftable)
4. Trade it with someone else for something else that you're interested in, that's currently in the hangar/melt it.
4. Stop thinking about it and hang on to it because it's going to be a really cool ship.
