I think the biggest innovation they introduced was the streaming technology that allows large maps with seamless travel across them.
A good perk of the game, but this was done long before OFP came out.
Seal Team did this in 1993
Delta Force 1 did it again in 1998 and for all of its subsequent expansions through 2009.
