From a Grunt's perspective, along with the battery pack, it looks bloomin heavy to be lugging around along with the rest of your kit and I can pretty much guaranty that it doesn't work as well as advertised or when you want or, more importantly, need it. It would not surprise me in the least if it was copied and based on something the Germans had developed during the war, they certainly went to a lot of trouble developing anti-IR paint for their subs, falsely believing the Brit's had developed the vision technology to spot them.
