Do I understand well that transmitter was to be switched on for real guidance for the last 15-18 seconds? How to compare it to 25 sec. required in Volkhov? Security margin?
And I wonder, in how many situations thay succeeded... Any data on number of Wild Weasels killed by Dvina in Vietnam?

Yes, crossed bars are the parts from timeline of engagement, with transmiter on... About 25 seconds - obviously traditions and what they used to be! wink
This is a part from a russian study about the Vietnam Air war, and this picture presents the mosr succesful way to deal with B-52's.

First arrow up is "Fake launch", second "Real Launch" and last one is "Missile-target point of impact". First use "T/T" guidance, and in last 15-18 seconds change to "Upr." (if target is locked till in "burn range").
