Yet another coinkidinky between us is the way our areas react to snow. It is better than it used to be but snow is so scarce here that we do not have the heavy snow moving equipment of our sister states up north. An appreciable snow, especially when accompanied by ice, leaves us stalled and stranded with nothing much to do but wrap warmly, get out the sleds and enjoy it.

Schools and businesses close on the sight of the first flake, events are put off, the TV screen is covered with a crawling line of closings. Snow is an occasion around here. After the first snow all the windows in all the houses and buildings have the be washed because of all those runny noses being pressed against them.

Yes, hung by the ears, those hares are not yet tender until the ears rot off and the pathetic little beastie falls to the ground. Yum? I suppose pheasants poached by the unwashed multitude of peasants on your vast land holdings are treated much the same. Come to think on it, if caught, ditto for those ungrateful peasants as well, eh? Let them eat cake....
