Those ghostly hares weaving and prancing in their nocturnal dance? Yes, I remember them. Pity that so many ended up in the 'jugged hare' recipe so beloved of the local villagers. A trifle strong for my taste however. They have to be 'kept' awhile and hung like game birds do.
We are in the grip of hard freezing weather now after mild snow up and down the country. Needless to say, it only takes an inch or so to bring near-anarchy to our road, rail and air services. The rest of Europe seems to manage quite adequately but here the schools are closed by the thousand. God help us if we ever get a winter like those of the forties and fifties.
