Clearly chaps, I'm no experten on Spits, crashed or otherwise, for I had completely forgotten the notorious Spitfire fuel tank sitting right in the pilot's lap. In spite of that glaring memory failure, I made a closer technical examination of the remains and bringing all my first-hand knowledge to bear, I'd say that, unless he got safely out, there was only enough Spitfire left to take him directly to the scene of the crash....
Something seems amiss here. MG, how long is it going to take you to ring the bell on 2,000 posts? By my own calculations, that should have happened weeks ago.
