Folks,

Dux:

LOL! A nearly perfect description of our celebration however you forgot to mention the private fireworks display and the attendant blaze that required the services of several of the more sober members of the Lizard Lick Volunteer Fire Brigade, Lawn Croquet Team and Plastic Swimming Pool Repair Squad. Thanks at least in part to all the beer that had been made available, it took them a full seven minutes less than last year to extinguish the blaze and not one of the lads was overcome by smoke or required medical assistance... at least not due to the fire. wink

It is always hot here in July. Earlier today my son and his two lads went down to the river and took a refreshing dip in the clear water of the ol' Swimmin' Hole. He took a few snaps of them splashing about. There is nothing that says summer more than a photo of two boys splashing about in the old swimming hole. I guess that photo of those same kids participating in a watermelon eating or seed spitting contest might come close.

Before our son was born we used to trek up to Williamsburg/Yorktown for the Fourth of July celebration there. There were re-inactions with British Redcoats and Colonists in their blue. Cannon and musket fire filled the air with smoke and military bands played. It was great fun. We'd always visit Jamestown as well before taking the ferry ride across the Chesapeake and making the 3 or 4 hour drive home.
