While there is time, let me congratulate you gentlemen on your successful sorties into the business of PC-repairmen. I am about to join you in the annals of PC-woes as my internet connection has gone bizarrely digital: Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't.

I have tested with different machines, even a Mac can you believe it, and I have tested with both wireless and wired connections, the latter being very important because if the support person on the other end of the phone line as much as even suspects a wireless element, he or she will quickly tell you to reconfigure your router. Once they realize that your connection is dead AND that you're connecting with wire, they capitulate and acknowledge that it is their network that is at fault.
