1960's convertible? Did you realise that the first Spitfire was wholly designed and completely built for only £14,637. (or £20,765 depending on source) I know which I'd rather have... A heap of instantly rusting garbage, won't go round corners, held up on rubber bands, or a sleek aluminium best in the world airplane. :-)))
