I have been prompted by, nay, shamed into offering this reply to your post.

There is a P51D sortie in IL2, or at least you can encounter a few in the 'end-of-war' operations when flying the fearsome long nose FW190D or (was it the TA152?) which is equipped with a 30mm cannon and and a pair of MG15s in the top decking.

Today we went for a Sabine's Gull at Heysham nuclear power station on a bright but windy day, but it wasn't there. On the way back we learned that it had returned. C'est la guerre...
