Saddened to learn of the death of Richard Widmark, one of the great fifties men-of-action. \:\( He was one of my favourites. Still - he had a good innings. 93 wasn't it.

For me, he was never better than in roles like 'The Last Wagon' and 'The Law and Jake Wade'.The first time I saw him was in '51 I think, starring alongside Ida Lupino as the psycho gun-happy owner of Jefty's Road House. It was that chuckling sneer which became his trade-mark don'tcha think?
