Yes, Cage's World is a wonderful time-capsule of early RB.

This was true from the beginning, as crude as the early non-Glide terrain might seem. The sense of space, the ease of orientation was outstanding, compared, for example, IMO, to Rowan's Flying Corps. I played RB initially with an OEM 4 mb graphics card. 3dfx cards were very expensive in those days, and of course "Glide wrappers" were unheard of. Later, when Glide went out of fashion, I acquired a Voodoo 2 cheaply and was able to enjoy the 3D effects.
