Folks,

Dux:

Wasn't "Flaming June" a headlining fire eater and amateur stripper over at the Crown and Trollop in Wendsley-Pfart? I believe that she went out with Hymie Goldberg for a short time? Considering Hymie's statue, any time she had with him was guaranteed to be short. You may recall that they were a hot item of gossip until his wife caught them waiting out an air raid in the back seat of his big Packard one dark night? She torched the car as I recall setting fire to June's long, Technicolorful red hair in the process and thus causing her stage sobriquet "Flaming" to be more than appropriate.

It was said at the time that the haystack and farm shed June set alight trying to put out the fire drew more than one bomb away from its intended target, saving many lives particularly in the red-light district by the docks. Poor June, though partially bald for the rest of her long life, was considered a true heroine...well, she was in certain quarters. ;\)
