Wildman,

That's a good three days worth of fighting and shows just how realistically the BoB sim can be played. Thanks for the contribution.

There are several references to Zero. Is this your 109 call sign? I've often wondered how well other planes would have fared in a Battle of Britain scenario. The Mitsubishi Zero would certainly have given a good account of itself in the light of what happened 18 months later. Also, if the RAF could have procured USA aircraft by Sept 1940 we may have seen the P-38, P-39 and P40 involved.

Apart from cannon armed fighters, what the RAF badly needed in the first year of the war was a fast twin engined long range fighter with a speed equal to the 110. The Blenheim 1f was about 70 mph too slow, lacked the necessary manoeuverability, and the armament was poor. The beefy Beaufighter was still in the development stages and initial delivery was not until late 1940. It possesed a superior fire-power to any other production aircraft in the world at that time with 11/12 guns including four 20mm cannon which would have made mincemeat of any bomber.
