Any given community will soon divide itself into 'us and them', those who are preferable company and those that aren't. A class division will soon become established and the more influential and forceful character will inevitably become sworn in as leader of the pack whatever their practical ability may be. Even in those days it seems there was an uptown/downtown Jamestown!
