We regret to advise that your son Fritz was declared missing in action over Britain on 25 August 1940. His pilot Hptmn Kill reported that after screaming incoherently during a routine enemy engagement he threw open the canopy and jumped out. A parachute was seen. We are awaiting confirmation from the Red Cross regarding whether he was captured or killed. You will be notified when word is received.
