Their new engine renderer is looking very nice.

It looks like they have decided to go for a larger skin set than the earlier planes. Now the hides and canvases certainly look much sharper and more detailed:



Here is hoping that they decide to use bump mapping to get that dope painted look, little cowling dents, etc.

Since Gennadich have displayed examples of progressive damage, I hope they can do something similar to the game MAFIA. In a campaign, skins could be swapped or actual polygonal damage would carry over from mission to mission, giving the player's plane a distinct personality and history.

I would love to see those little patches and binded splints on the framework showing the rigours of continual combat. The planes in real-life must have taken quite a beating.

It's kind of disheartening to fly a mission, land a beaten craft, only to have a brand new one available the next day without signs of combat.

Progressive mechanical wear or some percentage of failure is another hope but I'd like them to finish this sim before 2010. ;\)
