Night missions and night battles are there, vehicles come equipped with external lights and internal lights that can be toggled off or on. (Though with the press release copy, I was unable to turn off the external lights even though the key command is on the list of commands). Aerial flares are shot, tracer fire lights up the sky, tracer rounds fine targets, or ricochet off the ground or objects and fly upward to the sky. Very intense battles, especially at night.
I should mention that on my system, with everything maximized (anti-aliasing disabled), that I was getting a frame rate lock of 60 fps. Never dipping below or going higher, (even when frapping videos). That’s a sweet, steady frame rate.
The sounds are also equally incredible, from the environmental sounds, (birds singing in the middle of an artillery strike was kind of weird to hear), trees falling and crashing nearby, manmade objectives exploding around you. The sound of rounds hitting your tank is not something you like to hear, and for the most part you never know where it’s coming from, unless it’s a tank or enemy you’re engaging right in front of you. The sound of your main gun is incredible, and different for each main tank played. Different sounds for different types of machine guns. All add to the emersion of the battle.
