Like leader, 2,3,4,5 and maybe 6. Would be awsome, htne I would only use this one, fly as j11 with Mr Fox and Musicmans skins or J5 with my own skins. Get some nice sceens done

Need help with takeoff

Posted by: PatrickAWilson
on: 10/29/09 08:29 PM

AHA - nothing like a good rant to clear the mind.

My problem was that I had air start set. A full week of digging through everything that I could think with no results. Finally noticed the air start flag.

Anyway - altitude of zero does work (thank goodness, because otherwise I would be hosed). That is the best way to designate altitude for ground starts because Y calculation is not accurate.

What else ... airfield position can be flaky. If you use airfield position as the start position you may not have enough room. I back the aircraft up towards the hangars.

This is my algorithm for aircraft placement:
1. Start with airfield position.
2. Calculate new position: 100 yards distance, direction is 180 degrees opposite of Y orientation (not Y coordinate).
3. Plant the lead plane at this position.
4. Other planes are placed 30 yards away, 90 degrees from lead plane.

Obviously there is the possibility of error, but it seems to be OK so far.

Laser's Dogfight Generator Beta 03 Now Available

Posted by: mash3d
on: 10/31/09 01:39 AM

Hi, Thanks for building this, I've been testting it out. Just for fun I tried to max out both sides with 32 planes each. Slow as mud and didn't last long before it crashed but it sure was pretty for the few minutes it lasted.
I assume there is going to be a new release that will include the Dr.1 and Camel?
What are the chances of getting an option to take out planes that one does not own from the players list, but still leave them in for the AI list?
Can each of the Players AI planes have a differnt skin randomly assigned?
or would that take up too much memory?
Will it ever be possible to set up ground attack missions, or attack enemy bomber formations?
thanks,
Michael

How does MCU_CMD_AttackArea work?

Posted by: PatrickAWilson
on: 10/21/09 07:08 PM

Okay, I accomplished my goal (I think). My flights do not spawn. The start from their own fields and fly the same kinds of missions that you do. Because of this I want them to attack anywhere the enemy is found and not around a specific area.

The answer appears to be the AttackTarget MCU. What I did was assign the target flight as the object and every enemy flight as a target. This way each flight targets every flight on the opposite side.

Scout flights have the target as a primary goal and high priority. Further, all scout waypoints are low priority to allow them to break off and attack. Recon flights have their targets as default goal and low priority. Waypoint priority is medium to get them to stay on course unless attacked.

Needs more testing but initial tests look good. Thanks all.
