And we are now getting into PWEC conversation.
May have to move this.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

The beauty and soul of a Stradivari violin isn't diminished one bit by the countless fraudulent copies.

I hope it can stay on CH and not move to PWEC too fast so please try to not discuss faith itself, focus on faith healers.
Of course, I'm 100% sure other religions have their own frauds, and atheists are also targets (for atheists search james randi on YT), but I didn't see any debunking vid yet (if you have one about islam or judaism please share).
I ain't sure if I should be offended at the "huckster" comment, so I choose not to be. I went back to check. It clearly was not directed at you.The above quote is from OP, and still stands. I'd be very interested in seeing anything similar about judaism or islam, if anyone has any.

Christians in the US vastly outnumber (15/20 to 1) those other two, combined, so of course there will be a greater incidence of "whatever" in the Christian community.

Crime has many avenues, religion is just one of them.
As for the "deeper" concept - both religious and atheist people have no idea what they're talking about.
Agnosticism is the only honest approach.
The truth is WE DO NOT KNOW. That's the fact of the matter, it's completely indisputable, and no "faith" in terms of EITHER "belief or disbelief" negates it.
Scientific facts are real whether or not you believe them. There is no scientific evidence to prove or disprove the existence of a deity.
That's the convenience of religion though. It has faith so you don't need to prove anything.

I do find it interesting how a few hucksters here and there warrant a "To all Christians" topic header - and yet we are told to discount illegal and often violent actions of a few in a different religion as being something other than representative. My pastor gets on these Charlatans all the time in service. He calls them out in front of the entire Church, "You know who you are," and calls them to repent or burn in hell. My pastor is awesome. One of the most genuine I've ever known. Folks who wear the church on their sleeve for business often use it to mask the ills they perpetrate. They also tend to donate much as well--I think it helps them feel less guilty for the crimes they commit, but in the eyes of the Lord it's what is in your heart that matters. No sum of good deeds can forgive or cleanse malicious or malevolent intent. Last night's devotion was particularly timely. He wrote, "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God." - John 3:19-21
There are some things that just don’t like the light, and at the top of the list are these four things: One cockroaches. Two, rats. Three, teenagers making out in a dark room, when a parent comes in and turns on the light. And four, a thief in the night. None of those four like the light. Why? Because the light says, “You’re up to no good!” So, obviously, there’s a tendency for roaches, rats, smooching teenagers, and thieves in the night to run for cover when the light comes on. They don’t want their deeds exposed.
Really, this is true for all of us. The closer we get to the Light, the more our sins are exposed. The closer a person is to Christ, the more aware they are of their sinfulness. The further a person is from Christ, the more unaware they are of their sinfulness and they tend to think that they’re basically pretty good people. So, when the Light exposes who they really are, they prefer to flee toward the darkness.
But there is good news in all of this. John 1:9 says, “There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.” And 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.” In other words, in Jesus, we are made clean – we don’t have to fear exposure. He is the Light that leads us into righteous living.
Beware wolves clothed as sheep. Donating and doing good works is not coming to the light. Exposing your heart, however, and all its ills so that those may see you for who you are, especially the Lord, is the only true choice one can make.

Heck, this right here was one of the pivotal issues that contributed to the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century.

Why didn't I see the light of the Pearly Gate when I died twice?
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Blind faith is dangerous. It is where the Jim Jones and David Koresh's come from. Don't just believe because someone told you that it's true.

Blind faith in men, of any persuasion, religious or not, is dangerous. However, anyone who follows the teachings of Christ as recorded in the New Testament 100% "blindly" is not a danger to anyone.

Christianity, at its very roots, is about NOT giving into blind faith in men or even our actions.
It's no chance occurrence that Jesus went after the Pharisees first and foremost, as they were the ones so bent on following The Law that matters of meaningful faith fell to the wayside.
The Apostles went after failings of early Christians, and had loads and loads to say about being skeptical of those who would say they speak for God, and of being harsh to people who break dogma.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."
