On the subject of Steam: If I came home one day and laid out this killer business plan for content distribution, forums, etc, and got the family all hyped up about it, said I had funding, we were gonna be rich, blah, blah, blah and then they said, "What are you going to call it?" and I said "STEAM!", immediately all conversation would stop, they'd roll their eyes and walk out of the room. Same with things like "Bluetooth." Who names this stuff?!

Yup steam sucks but it's great

Steam is named steam because it's made by Valve, steam, valve you get the idea.

Anyways, they just put out an update that lets you sign into offline mode without being online first, so now you have no reason to hate steam.

Well, I have no opinion, hate or otherwise, on Steam, but again, who decides to name a software distribution company "Valve"? I guess that halfway makes sense, at least.

But anyway, part of the attempted humor of my post was that my family is so used to my cornball ways that as soon as I came out with the oddball name they'd assume the venture was doomed to fail. They'd be like "Why would you cripple a really good idea with a really screwball name?" and they'd be all over my case for being deliberately weird... and yet, these unusual names succeeded.

Oh, and bisher - steam doesn't suck, it blows. Usually. I have seen steam siphons used once in a while.

This IS AWESOME news! PERIOD.
