Laugh all you want, but I'm old and have a hard time reading the subtitles and don't understand German. Russian, yes. German, not so much.

Is there a way to have the communications for offline play in English?

You can get English subtitles afaik only if you have the game in English (i.e. the characters speaking English) - not that it's worth it as the audio scripting and acting is horrendous.

Why these developers never get a native English speaker to check their stuff over first is beyond me - makes them look amateur.

I can think of about thirty people right off the top of my head that would do it for free (OK, for a copy of the game). Post on SimHQ "first person to respond to this announcement gets the job and a free copy of the game."
