Not sure what they are doing with the latest update but they borked the offline map feature. It's enabled, but for a lot of places I get "Offline Maps is Not Available for this Area."......which happens to include my country and most of the neighbouring countries.

And me being stupid enough to update to the latest version without checking user feedbacks when I could have kept using their older software (If it ain't broke, dont update).

I used the GPS/offline maps feature in the prior version just last week when I stayed at Yangon, Burma and it worked great.

Same here. The `labs` function to pre-cache 10 map areas was at least functional. Need to check if the previous APK can be had somewhere.

Grabbed the 6.8.0 APK and it's back to the cached maps by way of the "labs" setting.

There are open source map apps that let you download regional maps for offline use as well.

But do they give you turn-by-turn navigation? I was lucky I didn't update before I went on vacation, because I was able to cache the island of Mallorca (Spain) with 6 map areas. That saved me some money, by not having to download the map area I was driving in each time, when the foreign roaming charges are 75 euro-cents per megabyte. (93 dollarcents)
