I would venture a guess that DayZ has sold more copies of ArmA2 than was sold in total prior to the mods existence. There are a lot of people that picked up ArmA2/OA just to be able to play DayZ with no intention to look at the core simulation. Currently there are 523,724 unique players looking at the stats on the DayZ website. I enjoy ArmA2 and so do a lot of other members here, but it is a niche game. I don't think BI needs to change their game formula at all for ArmA3. Simply include the DayZ mod in the package or not.

The ragdoll and better physics alone should make a lot more mainstream mods possible for arma3. Most mod makers were turned off by arma2's game engine for anything but tactical shooters.

That makes sense. The improvements to ArmA3 should generate a lot of interest with the mod community. One good idea and a decent game engine and look what can happen.

What has been amazing to me is that Arma2CO has stayed Top 10 on the daily Steam Top Sellers list, even though it still hasn't really been put on special sale or anything, just the -20% off $24 which is higher than Amazon has had it the last week...

Pretty cool for it to be doing that well in the midst of all the daily -75% top sellers of the Steam Summer Sale, hopefully BI is pocketing that DayZ driven cash to make Arma3 kick butt.

I hope so kludger. BIS certainly has more revenue to invest in ArmA3 if they choose to do that. At the rate new players are coming to DayZ, I wouldn't be surprised to see a million players by the end of July. Considering it is an alpha mod, that is pretty phenomenal!

I bought Operation Arrowhead just for DayZ. Unfortunately I don't know too many other people who play it, so tough going it alone sometimes.

Just join us on the SimHQ Teamspeak (info found in the sticky at top of this forum), usually there are people playing that can help you out and being with a team is always safer than going at it alone.
