Looking at the ceremony video from the ground perspective they were just like the original Bomber Command and missed by a mile, but still hit the city...

The video I saw was from the Queen's vantage point and that it was still some distance off from the actual memorial building followed by the drift after release is what I was referring to...

I suppose it really would have been too much to ask for it to have come fluttering down on the Queen's party. By the look of the boxes that didn't disperse properly it might have caused a bit too much of a close call anyway.
