That is a great article, Whiskey. Thanks for the link. Now I know the 'Rest of the Story'. The synchorniser actually fires the MG when the trigger is pulled. Neat!

I think the lever/button is there, it's modeled as the "trigger" which was rigged onto the joystick. You can see it animate in a lot of aircraft.
