We had a similar thing happen years ago- one of the squadron guys mistook the red and green striped AFFF pull handle for a light switch somehow, and triggered the foam system in the hangar bay, but they managed to shut it down after about two minutes. The foam wasn't as deep as in the pictures above, but several Superhornets were in the bay with canopies and other panels open for maintenance. From what I heard, the fallout for that guy wasn't pretty...
