You can still have desktop shortcuts with Steam games, I just prefer to have most of my games from one place rather than spread around and I forget where I downloaded them from in case I need to reinstall biggrin

Consolidation. Ease of backup. Re-installation very simple. Patching done through Steam.

I'll always opt for a Steam version over any other method if possible. Just makes things so much easier.

I concur with all these points, and it is about-turn from what I used to think about steam when it began downloads years ago.
