Wow really nice video Katdog5!

Great way to present a historic mission I had never heard about, well captured and edited cheers! Also IL2-1946 looks great there, will need to look into those mods for my own install.

I think there was mention of Gay in the movie Midway (including his rescue).

Nice job. Well done!

Nicely done. This story is told in compelling detail in "A Dawn Like Thunder" which details the story of Torpedo 8 from Midway to Guadalcanal. Not to be holier-than-thou on the military history minutia (but I'm doing it anyway) but it was John Waldon, not George Gay, that led the flight of VT-8 Devastators from the Hornet. Additionally, Langdon Fieberling led a flight of six VT-8 Avengers from Midway. As you mention, Gay was the only surviving member from the flight of Devastators that left the Hornet. The flight of Avengers fared little better - 5 of the 6 were shot down, and two aircrew survived. VT-8 later served in the Cactus Airforce on Guadalcanal. Their stuggle with disease, fatigue and air raids, naval gun fire, and infantry attacks was harrowing.
