Its probably my age Blueraven. I like the fact that there isnt a CGI plane in sight, its got Hannible (George Pepard) in it from the A Team and its a good old fashioned war film in a similar vien to "Where Eagles Dare" and "The Great Escape".

Recovery from the resulting flat spin was difficult, though some pilots took advantage of this trait to descend quickly or evade enemy aircraft.

This isn't the aircraft we have in game is it? As I've said the FM's of the more recent ROF additions seem to be more detailed than the earlier ones, the DIIIa was one of the first batch of aircraft released irc.

Edit.....

Just reading at the Aerodrome that the DIIIa took 15 mins to reach 10K, the Se5 took what, 6 mins? Although the Alb is a poor climber as well. There seems to be a general lack of info on Pfalz designs on the internet, what there is seems to be quite contradictory.

The same thing can be said for every plane in the sim to be honest. What you also must be wary off is attributing quotes based on the D.III to the D.IIIa. The D.IIIa had a different tail, revised wings and more power, it was generally a better aircraft and comparing a D.III to a D.IIIa is like saying a 109E is the same as a 109F.

When you see a quote saying D.III do not automatically attribute the same characteristics to the D.IIIa.

Was the performance of the D3 and D3a really that different? From reading what bit of info there is on the net the main change seems to have been making access to the mg's easier for the pilot.

The D3 we have in game flies like a basic trainer, it doesn't spin or stall aggressively. Anyhow, Neoqb know there's issues with the FM so we'll see how the changes pan out.

It had aerodynamic refinements such as increased tailplane area, rounded lower wingtips and a lengthened fuselage. It also had an increase in power with a later Mercedes DIII engine. These refinements and increase in power would not have transformed it into a world beater but it was at least an improvement.

I agree that the DIIIa in RoF is hard to stall or spin and I would like to see it's handling fixed to reflect this. I would also hope to see the handling in the Albatros D.III, D.Va and the Spad XIII fixed in the same regard. Especially the Spad, as it is now it is nothing like the flying brick it was described as. I find it incredibly docile and very forgiving with plenty of stall warning. So I do welcome the future FM improvements.

Agree im also hope all these planes will be corrected in these aspect.

And i hope that we get at least fixed elevator issue for SE5a and we get elevator trimm for it. With these fixes it would be the best allied plane in game.
