I posted this in another section but thought I'd also post it here in the hopes of getting some help.

Well I'm having a hell of a time getting IL-2 to work. I've got most everything set up so I can fly now and went to test the game. It starts but the weird thing is I'm zoomed in on the upper left corner. I go to move the mouse and I see the cursor disappear. I alt tab out and back thinking this will fix the aspect ratio and it doesn't! So I decide to set it for my desktop resolution- 1600x1200. Start it up and same damn thing! Stuck up in the upper left corner and am zoomed in. Nothing I do will give me a full screen view or make the mouse work within it!

I've now done a fresh install and just testing it from the DVD without any patching causes the same problem to happen. I even started a game in Hyperlobby and launched from there and same thing. Looking at the preview from the icon on the task bar when I alt tab out shows me the entire game screen but when I click on the program to go back in I'm zoomed in on the upper left corner again and no mouse... I've already screamed and cried... running out of ideas here... I've tried various compatibility modes, running as admin, etc. and nothing changes this. I could really use some fresh ideas here as I'm supposed to have a campaign mission tonight with the squad... Thanks.

I just figured it out!!!!!! Under compatibility I had to select the "disable display scaling on high DPI settings" and it fixed it fine!!! Didn't have to do this on the RC, though that computer has a 9800GTX+ in it with different drivers so that may be it or something that changed from the RC to the Gold version. Either way I'm now a happy man again. :lol: Ah, life is good again.

Just installed IL-2 1946 to Win 7 RC last week. Only serious problem I encountered was the install hanging midway. Installing with Windows XP compatibility mode took care of that. Also, the Mod version switcher couldn't find a particular file until I unchecked "Read Only" for the entire IL-2 folder.

TBag, try running it from an exe called "a" . . . it is on the IL-2 1946 DVD. There are five folders and then "Data1" then "Data11" and then an exe file called simply "a." Use this "a" exe and it should start the installation. It is what I had to do. I'll try to check back sooner to see how your progress is going. Let us know what happens next and be mindfull of the hang-ups I listed above in my previous post. Good luck.

I've been running IL2 (and Hyperlobby) on both the Windows 7 beta and the RC, and I'm now running on the final version (RTM) and it works great (x64 Ultimate).

As said earlier you have to use a.exe to install IL2 1946, and do NOT install it into the default "Program Files" location (I've heard, never install games there myself anyway).

There are also some quirks to get Hyperlobby running, beeing programmed in Visual Basic 5 from the stone ages The RTM version seems to have the UAC settings a bit tighter than the RC (UAC is User Access Control - the questions that pop up demanding Admin rights etc). First of all you have to run the setup file with the right click option "Run as Administrator" to get the installer to work. Then you have to set all the different exe-files (aping.exe, dexec.exe and hlpro.exe) in the install dir to compatibility mode for Win 98 (XP is not enough!, I think it was enough in the RC). The app will look a bit weird (more than usual) and the "x" for closing the app will be hidden etc (at least on my Nvidia 275 GTX). A note, If you only set hlpro.exe to compat it will run, but you will not be able to save the location of the "il2fb.exe"
