I was browsing through all of the pit builds and it looks like its a pretty even split between:

1. Having the stick centered directly on you with the throttle further to the left

-and-

2. Having yourself centered in between the stick and the throttle, with the stick to your right and the throttle to your left.

Which do you use and why?

I am using the first method, because most sims i fly are about vintage planes, which had a centered stick. I have built a center console for my stick and a second console, which is a bit smaller for my throttle. Stick and throttle are secured with velcro. Works like a charm.

I used to play in a sidestick setup back in the old X-Wing and Falcon days. smile

I place my X52 on my keyboard tray with stick centered and throttle to the left. I move the keyboard up onto the desk. I guess I do it that way mostly due to space constraints but also because that is how it is in fighter jets.

I was just curious because I am about to purchase a 61 inch Samsung DLP and will be using that as my primary gaming screen. I will therefore be gaming from the couch and am trying to figure out how to make this all work perfectly.

For racing games it is easy as there are several stands for sale that will easily get the job done, for gaming with the keyboard and mouse a company called Lapworks makes something called the Gamers Desk which is like a TV tray customized to hold your keyboard and mouse. I just purchased the Saitek X-52 Pro and am stumped as to how I can make this work from the couch.

I am thinking getting a board and attaching the joystick and throttle to that board and then maybe attach three more boards underneath in an H pattern to clamp with your thighs to make the whole thing stable. Method number 2 would be easier to keep stable with that custom build, but I am not 100 percent sure it will even work, I would rather use the first method with the stick centered but I dont know how it would work.

Anyone know of something like the wheel stands that can be used for a joystick, throttle and rudder pedals? Maybe the wheel stand can be modified? I dont have anything purchased yet and am trying to plan out exactly what I am gonna buy.
