I've participated in EAW threads for a short while.

Maybe contributed a bit, in a positive sense. I hope so.

Always fascinated by the energy of the community.

I lost, somehow, my entire folder of EAW games, lock, stock, and barrel.

Everything but basic disk was somehow lost. All the games/variants I saved, every damn thing. al the carefully added Mods. Effing gone.

So re-starting from the disk, as per EAW Help Site.

Call me a RE-NEWBIE.

So, that said, what are the exact procedures to:

Download EXEPro, and

Download V1.60?

This can be a very useful, if unintended, exercise foe any new game user.

Sorry to hear about your problems RiBob, I always believed I was the only one who had such happenings.

EAWPRO can be added to a FULL install of v1.1 or v1.2 of the original game. All you have to do is to extract this ZIP into the game's rootfolder. where the EAW.EXE resides and allow overwrites, a reboot after install is adviced. An EAW.INI is included with entries for a NoCD/NoOS version and screenresolution is set to 1024 x 768 by default (change if necessary).

It can be obtained from this link:

You may or may not need the 3D Windower program to get it working if you can't run it in D3D mode or encounter error 7217 (no EAW screensupport in graphics card).

Remember to burn you games to CD once you have them setup, especially if they take extra time to setup. Or place a backup some place else.

Things are coming along. Now that the local Heat Wave (near 100F) for the last few days has made it impossible to work on any of my vehicles, I plan to get to work tomorrow on re-constructing the EAW folder, and stashing away a copy or copies.

How this happened is a mystery, but it's my fault that I did not adequately back-up my stuff. I ordered some gear to make that easier, and more secure than at present.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the very kind people who have assisted me, both publicly and privately. I owe you all a debt that is not easy for me, a simple user to repay.

No doubt to many of you, my experience would have not be as bad as I believed it to be, because many of you are old hands at backing-up. That is good.

Perhaps sharing some backup techniques might be beneficial. I suggest using the referenced thread to do so.

Looks like I have my versions of EXEPRO, V1.60, and V1.28e up and running, but still have a little cleaning-up to do.
