Problem with all Falcon sims !

Hi guys, I'm hoping for some help here.I have posted this in a few forums,working on the theory that the more the merrier ! The response has varied from non at all to excellent! 'Excellent' being 72nd VFW  Great bunch of guys. Anyway, to the problem. I have recently installed Falcon 4.0 AF after having it for sometime, and having installed and run it successfully (as far as I remember)on an older pc last year. The problem I'm having is this. It launches fine, runs the opening movie clip, and puts me on the main page for choosing what to do next, training, missions etc. But when I choose say, training, click ' commit', and then 'fly' it locks up on the page that shows an F16 above 5 smaller pics. No amount of keywork will bring about any change, and I have to reboot. Edit:- I have since tried older graphics drivers, and managed to get airborne, but I have found that after arriving on the 'pie' screen, I have to press 'enter' for anything to happen. Also, whilst flying, my keyboard is, to all intents and purposes, completely dead! So, to end the game, I have to either eject or crash..... I have tried a repair install with no success, and several complete uninstall/reinstalls, and running with and without the latest patch all to no avail. I have tried installing it in different places, on different partitions, again with no joy. I have disabled my soundcard and run with onboard sound, tried different usb keyboards, my present keyboard is a genius Ps2. Tried another joystick.....no change. Now, I have also installed Free Falcon and Open Falcon, and they all have the same issue. I can get FF in the air but have no keyboard OR throttle.... Open Falcon sticks on the loading page and after a few minutes snaps back to the mission page and tells me I have gained 10,000 points !! (great music tho) I have installed on my pc, MS Cfs1,IL-2 Sturmovik complete edition and Jane's Israeli Air Force......all which fly ok, and respond to Keyboard input with no problems !! So as you can imagine guys, I'm beginning to lose my hair.... This must be fixable surely. These are my pc specs:- Foxconn Mars mobo Pentium E5200 dual core 2.5 ghz (o/c to 3.25 ghz)Tried it at stock speed, no diff. Kingston DDR2 4gb ram ATI x1950 pro 512mb graphics Creative SB X-Fi soundcard XP Pro Sp2 800w psu I have even emailed Lead Pursuit over 2 weeks ago, but they havn't even aknowledged receipt of it......... All help/suggestions will be appreciated guys.I'm beginning to despair..... Thankyou Zigg

Thankyou Zigg I don't see anything that would make it not run ,from your specs an description but see if these help . 1) don't run any kind of FSAA , check ati display make sure its off till you get it all working . 2) What res is desktop and what res are you trying to run game ? (try 1600x1200 for both) 3) make sure in graphic setup your running in D3D HAL ,not D3D T&L Ed

Do you have Dx9c installed ?
Have you ever had any version of F4 running on this system ok ?
Do you get same lock up in Instant action or Dog-fight module >

I had a similar issue that it would lock about 10 seconds inot anytime I tried to fly... Hard lock too it was nasty. This only happenned after up upgraded my PC.
The fix was to make sure that regular HAL was enabled and NOT the T&L HAL. Once I made that change it was smooth going...

Odd , lets go back to basic's ,go into setup>controller and see if keyboard and stick works there . Try this, set controller to keyboard only in drop down menu at top. then go into key tab of setup and just make sure keyboard works there (try scrolling up/down through key commands. If ok in UI try in the game and see if keyboard only works, just as test. Then if ok try an add stick and make sure in setup>controller it works in all axis . Tried that Ed, keyboard worked fine in setup mode......all the right keys lit up the right commands.......in game, zippo....no input at all...  If it did work in game, how would I add stick, seems to me to be an either/or option?

The keyboard/controller should be keep in high priority and not go to sleep or whatever is going on here . If you add stick only the stick will show up in setup>controller but if you can't keep keyboard working, stick won't help either . I don't know whats going on, if keyboard and stick are all USB, you could try once in game unplug keyboard and replug in USB port, see if it recognizes the keyboard then, that's not a fix or anything, but might help understand whats going on, I really don't know .

Don't have any idea if this will work, after starting the game and getting to the main screen, ctrl-alt-delete, set affinity to one proccessor. I had this problem a while back but i didn't write down how i got around it.
Cancel my suggestion above.
My problem was not running the correct .reg file for the diff installations. Check this...

Zigg Now, I have also installed Free Falcon and Open Falcon, and they all have the same issue If you have more than one installation at the same time, then you should have a diff .reg file for each installation. Not sure about AF though. For the others, you need to export thier .reg values before installing the next one. That was my problem before, i simply was going too fast and i forgot to do this. Don't know if this is your problem for sure but, it showed up for me in the way you described the problem.

This document is an instruction on how to facilitate multiple installs of Falcon 4.0 on your PC.
This is useful for several reasons, you can have one install for your online flying with the 185th, another install for eRazor, another install for trying out new stuff such as new patches or new terrain's.
With multiple installs you never have to mess with your original install, hence eliminating the risk of having problems on an official mission.
This is how you do it:
Do a fresh install of Falcon4 from CD and patch it to 1.08US.
Then COPY the entire Falcon 4 folder to a different location on your harddrive,
this is your Back-up copy for future installs.
Go to the Start menu.
Click "Run".
Type "regedit" and click OK.
Now you will see this window ...
Do a search for this doc on the net.
Like i said above, don't know if you know this so i thought i would post it.

Zigg, go into setup and check your keyboard key presses there.
i.e. what does c, or ctrl-shift-c do?
do this on the 'controller' tab.
What types of keyboards are you using? USB etc...
One more thing, before re-installing find and run this file F4_RegCleanUp.
