Have you tried Plutonium FX or "Light in the IL2"?

If your flying off line and can get it to work...Dark Blue Word is very...very good. It includes most of the great mods all in one package but it took me 12 tries to get it to work with 6 individual downloads and the creators of it are not very helpful. But after all it is free and it is fantastic once you get to work.

HDR and bloom are both DirectX enhancements. Il2 is really meant to be run in OpenGL.
