Floored me today. One of the few great Austrians, one of our national idols across multiple generations.

Seems he had a good and fulfilled life, I wish him Peace or Rush, whatever he likes up there.

I was shocked to hear the news, for some reason having beaten death i thought he would always be around.
That of course is never true.

Niki Lauda, one of the most determined men I have ever seen.
Rest in Peace.

Wow. I was just on his wiki page two or three days ago thinking what a great guy, and troubled at his medical issues in recent years. It looks like they finally caught up with him.

RIP Niki. What an interesting life. Rare someone can overcome so much fear and adversity.

That crash he suffered was just so horrific and he ended up inhaling so much toxic smoke that there's no way that long-term damage to his health could have been avoided. It's a miracle he made it to 70.

I watched him drive at Watkins Glen in the 70's, great dueling with James Hunt. He was the master of masters and a gentleman.
