SpaceX First Stage Landing Failure - 12/05/18 06:28 PM

No news yet but I was watching the launch live and the first stage started spinning out of control on its way to landing and they cut the video.

Loss of control begins at about the 26 minute mark.

Was this the stage one that was up for its third time?

Looks like a Grid Fin issue.

Confirmed it was the fins, there was a pump issue,.
It defaulted to a safe landing protocol and went for a water landing - which it made safely.

Also this was a brand new booster, not a pre used one..

No. Brand new. The one you are referencing flew successfully last week.

#%&*$#.

Well, this stuff happens with rockets, and is a great opportunity to investigate where the failure was to make the next version stronger. One of the engines looks like they malfunctioned in the video.

Not so sure a fin? Look at the licks of lame from one of the sputtering engines. Space X will confirm whatever it was for us armchair rocket scientists.

in the referenced vid, it's confirmed by Elon Musk as a pump / fin issue.
