You Are Invincible In...?

You Are Invincible In...? - 02/24/19 01:59 AM

I feel I am the most invincible in either a Sopwith Triphound and a Fokker Drl. The Tripehound gets the nod because it is faster and I can out run opponents if the odds get greater than 10 to 1...

The Pup. I have never flown either of the two you mentioned. I've flown the N.10, 11 and 17. The Pup though, is just a good little airplane.

For the Brits it's the Sopwith Camel, all the way. On the German side it's the D.VII in any variant, followed very closely by the Fokker Dr.I. For the French and/or Americans it would be the N17. If we're talking two-seaters I'll take the Brisfit, it is hands down one of the best all-around mounts in the virtual WWI skies.

I'm not invincible in anything. The enemy will ram me no matter what I'm flying. And if they take too long, I'll ram them!

Lou i often wonder why the Sopwith company could not come up with a mount that exhibited the best qualities and stability of the Pup when they created the Camel.

Robert, if you want a great turn fighter the last thing you want is inherent stability. It's exactly the Camel's twitchiness that makes it such a fantastic turn fighter.

Nor am I, Trooper! I'm just less likely to get killed in certain WOFF aircraft. biggrin

The Taube. Definitely the Taube. I haven’t heard of one being shot down or even rammed in WoFF.

I'm not invincible either but, if you want a long life, try the Brisfit. Very flyable, fast in a get away dive and has a sting in it's tail. One of the big problems is getting in a fight to begin with. I'm flying with RFC 48 in 1918 and most of the time the Huns just don't want to fight with us. Also the flight leaders are not particularly aggressive. I don't know it it's a unit characteristic or the aircraft type but they usually let an enemy pass unless they're attacked, I'll transfer to another squadron after Operation Micheal is over or start a new boy is this one doesn't survive to find out.

I'm invincible in all planes.

I just have to remember to check the invincibility box in the settings, and I'm good to go. biggrin

To give a more serious answer, when I fly the Fokker D.VII, I feel more or less invincible. The Dr. I is great too, but it lacks the speed and toughness of the D.VII, and is a bit too nervous to my liking.

On the Entente side, flying the Brisfit feels almost like cheating. The N.11 and 17 are awesome for 1916.

The Pup has dihedral both wings which contributes to its stability. The Camel was supposed(?) to get the same treatment but time was a factor and the simple expedient of building the top wing 'flat' also contributed to its 'twitchyness' is what I remember reading somewhere. I could be wrong because I've been wrong before... once! lol

SPAD, can't kill anything in it either so I guess that's just karma.
