New 4.18 update: Can somebody explain me

Update 4.18: Allow new sequence of order numbers to be entered and validated after install, or re-install.

Sorry as an non English speaker it all looks to me very confusing. What is this new update doing?

Ah. I got it. I think.
The format of the numbers you enter when installing WOFF (anti-piracy I assume) has been changed. Presumably this will only apply to new sales(?) and the old numbers given to previous purchasers must be the same.
Wonder what the issue was...?

Perhaps related to changes in how they check ownership coming in the near future?

Sounds logical but why? To sync up with the format that WOTR will use?
Perhaps a forced change from the company that does the downloads...whose name I forget.

This is honestly the first time I've even noticed 4.18. Been on 4.17 this entire time. Doesn't look like any other changes though?

I had to reload yesterday, with 4.18. And I didn't have to enter that product number, as I had before.

Fairly simple I thought. .New orders since around the start of August need the new 4.18 update to allow them to enter any recent order number/serial number.
If you have an older order, from before August 2018 then there's no problem nothing to see here...

You can install 4.18 if you like, but you do not need it if you have 4.17 and an older order.

Nowi likely the old number was still registered in your PC then WOFF would pick that up. New update does not remove the need to enter your serial number.

This issue affected me as a new buyer. I purchased the game, downloaded it (4.17) and when I tried to enter my serial number (sent me via email), it told me it was the wrong number. I had to download the 4.18 patch to get the new number to work.

I suspect it's only related to that particular situation - all you old grognards probably won't notice a thing.
