I missed the WOTR Update in Sept.

I missed the WOTR Update in Sept. - 10/10/17 08:57 PM

I had that little Cat 4 hurricane thing going on in mid September at my place, which is probably why I missed this bit of news on the WOTR website.

September 13th 2017 "We have recently expanded on the originally planned features of WOTR and have therefore pushed the release into 2018. When we are ready with details we will publish those later."

Looking forward to the details...and a few screen shots. biggrin

It'll be interesting to fly the WWII stuff I've got hundreds of hours in an older game engine but knowing how deep WOFF's career system is, whatever WOTR doesn't bring to the table in flight modeling it's surely going to meet the mark in everything else.

Ah, friend, you may be pleasantly surprised. Back in the day, there was a crew (AvHistory?) dedicated to "1%" flight modelling - that is, they worked to get the WWII planes of CFS3 (and add-ons as well) to within 1% of the historical performance. They even had WWII pilots of some of those planes to work with them and get them "feeling" real. Now not being a pilot, I couldn't vouch for the quality of that work, but they put a lot into it for a reason, and the planes I flew seemed really good.

I don't know if OBD will be able to take advantage of any of that work, but the fact is, the CFS3 engine was made for this moreso than WWI - OBD has performed a monumental task in both overhauling and considerably extending CFS3's original capabilities. Winding Man did scenery for the CFS3 add-on ETO. So it's not an area that they are unfamiliar with.

And I'll wait, I'm 'way to busy to fly much anyway, just too bad for OBD that they can't make it for Christmas and take a break. Maybe we'll have to get a little donation drive going to give them a Christmas bonus!

Additional features. Anyone wonder what they are? What features would you like to see in WOTR? No airplane lists, just features.

Proper bomb sights and proper targets to bomb.
Missions to attack V1 launch sites.
Chase and destroy airborne V1s before they hit their target - being vectored in by radio.
Sub pen attack missions. U-boot targets.
Able to attack naval targets and sea-planes.
Dam-buster escort missions.
Contrails! Barrage balloons.
Able to turn on the Jericho siren in Ju-87.
Feel the difference in flight model before and after dropping ordnance.
Able to tow a glider behind a Ju-52 or C-47.
Get the paratroopers safely to a drop zone.

Only two man are working on this game, so do have patience.
To all WW2 flyers, if not can wait, install some of the free packs for Cfs3, like Eto, pto, solomons, maw, bob or korea. Seems you can use the terrain from Woff in eto and Ankors shadermod btw.
Get all the info on the old OFF website at Simouthouse forum

Meanwhile I do enjoy Woff and while I do have Bos/il2-1946/Clod, I still prefer WW1 more then any WW2 sim.
