Reshade and WoFF. Nice.

Reshade and WoFF. Nice. - 10/08/17 12:08 AM

Please forgive me, ya you guys already know, but I'm like a kid in a brand new candy store. It's always a pleasure to see an older engine being compatible with Reshade, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how easily it worked. I was a bit skeptical that I would enjoy just flying around in WoFF... after all it's all about combat and the feel of being in an air war?? Wrong. This is a BEAUTIFUL flying sim. Just a quick shot showing how well Reshade 3 can transform the sim.

Evening flying.

Always something new to try! Glad you're having fun.

Maybe a dumb question, but what is Reshade?

I don't know either, Banjoman, but I'm very glad to see TerribleTwo enjoying the beauty of WOFF. I've said it numerous times before (and having spent many hours gawking out the windows of airliners), it's the prettiest skies I've ever seen. And it appears our new friend here may have found a way to make it prettier still, so please do tell, TerribleTwo.

I was sold back aways when I was making a turn, and looked over the side and had this "Whoa!" feeling of great altitude - utterly the closest I've ever felt to flying while safely seated behind my computer screen! TerribleTwo, you won't find a better group to hang around with either, I assure you. It's civil and very helpful bunch. Welcome to the meat grinder, and enjoy!

It is an injector like SweetFX, see https://reshade.me/ Only before using this injectors, calibrate your monitor, Google on doing how.
Last picture shows to me very unrealistic and I also see an FPS drop.

I actually use SweetFx for WOFF instead of Reshade. I notice no noticeable FPS drops with SweetFx.
I find that Reshade in games can take 10-15 FPS off in some titles.
If I'm not mistaken there's a SweetFx mod setup in the user mods section on this forum. I used that and then played with the settings to get my desired effect
SweetFx for me at least " sharpens" the textures,the wood and canvas on the craft look more realistic. And the good thing about it is you can turn it off and on at will with one key press.
And welcome to WOFF Terrible Two and it's fine community cheers

Why not use nVidia inspector?

Re: Reshade and WoFF. Nice. - 10/08/17 12:02 PM

Reshade shouldnt reduce fps any more than Sweetfx. They both do the same things, with slight differences. Sweetfx has a few effects that Reshade does not and vice versa.

Reshade has an in game gui that you bring up with Shift -F2. The menu allows you to click individual effects on/off, no need to restart. You can also turn the entire effects off with a keypress.

I use Reshade because its easier to install and easier to use. The above shots have simple coloring effect on like tint, dpx, colorize, hdr... It has several bloom functions but I haven't much experience using those.

Dutch, nvidia inspector is a different thing entirely.

Reshade has the ability to make the distant horizon look more real. I think these photos demonstrate the effect.

I notice your FPS drops between 13-15 while Reshade is on Terrible Two. Still if your happy with your settings then its your call.

The Sweetfx settings that i use doesn't drop my fps by even 1
Il try set up some shots with it off and on..the colour variation might not be as profound as yours but its still a nice difference.
The top of each are with Sweetfx on..No fps drops and for me at least it looks "sharper" crispier.

Yes the HDR effect drops the fps, as it does in Sweetfx as well. The effects are similar if not the same.

Yep that,d be it pal. I dont have HDR on on my Sweetfx settings.
Just a few more to show the difference Terrible Two.
I hope your enjoying WOFF thumbsup

Well, ya gotta admit, either one simply takes "Beautiful" and makes it "Beautiful-er!" Enjoying the comparisons....

Re: Reshade and WoFF. Nice. - 10/09/17 10:57 AM

I learned about Reshade while flying fsx/p3d where a realistic horizon effect was MUCH needed, the downfall of the fsx engine. A small shader compilation called Mastereffect turned fsx's horizon into something that rivaled Xplane. I havent tried the mastereffect suite with woff yet but will give it a try. It has some newer shaders that dont always work with the older engines.

Re: Reshade and WoFF. Nice. - 10/10/17 12:35 AM

Here's what I use in SweetFX to make the rendering a bit more crisp

#define USE_LUMASHARPEN 1
#define sharp_strength 1.00
#define sharp_clamp 0.035
#define pattern 3
#define offset_bias 1.00
#define show_sharpen 0

#define USE_LEVELS 1
#define Levels_black_point 2
#define Levels_white_point 250

#define USE_TONEMAP 1
#define Gamma 1.00
#define Exposure 0.00
#define Saturation 0.05
#define Bleach 0.0
#define Defog -0.020
#define FogColor float3(0.00,0.00,1.00)

#define USE_VIBRANCE 1
#define Vibrance 0.15
#define Vibrance_RGB_balance float3(1.00, 1.00, 1.00)

#define USE_CURVES 1
#define Curves_mode 0
#define Curves_contrast 0.33
#define Curves_formula 10

p.s. Lumasharpen can sometimes lead to a little ground texture shimmering, so if you need to that can be turned off by setting it to:
#define USE_LUMASHARPEN 0

Interesting. Last time I tried using Reshade 3 with WOFF (to apply VR shaders in fact) I couldn't get it to work, it did CTD all the time. Maybe I should give it another go.

Thanks for the settings Major Magee..il certainly try them out.
I just wanted to add that i think OBD,s textures and scenery are excellent.
What you guys have done with a old CFS3 engine is nothing short of phenomenal..i just like a bit of sharpening and a little bit more colour whilst flying (i actually use Sweetfx or Reshade/Mastereffect with most of my games).

I dunno, I'm not a guru, but Reshade starts with no shaders on and no ini file. You need to select WoFF.exe file and DirectX9 when you first install reshade.

Reshade only activates when you actually start a flight. It will load all 53 shaders if you chose to download all of them at install. Once that loads, go through the tutorial, type in a name you want your ini file to be, then select just one shader at a time. They come on as soon as you select them, so you can see if one casuses a ctd.
