The 3.3PTU is going to be sent to the LIVE launcher and the PTU will switch over to 3.3.5 with Hurston. 3.3 to live should happen tomorrow (friday 9th) and 3.3.5 has no specific date but it should be soon (within a week)

It is a little confusing. When can I expect my 3.2.2 version to update to 3.3? I guess today? (Friday). No idea what PTU is.

Persistant "TEST" Universe. i.e the experimental branch of the build. PU is the stable(ish) version.

Dont hold your breath on it going live today. The last PTU build (3.3.0ae) really seems to have screwed things up again.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/09/18 11:40 PM

Yep, I'd say probably 3.2.2 will be updated to 3.3 on monday and then PTU gets updated to 3.3.5 on Wednesday.

3.3 got put onto the live server a few hours ago. No word on when they will drop the 3.3.5 PTU.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/10/18 11:03 PM

Dont hold your breath guys. Currently they've managed to create a game halting bug into LIVE. Seems like most (including me) can not even load the game at the moment. Error shows as Code 15006.

I hope they're paying OT to get this fixed ASAP.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/10/18 11:31 PM

Dont hold your breath. They dont work weekends. So if the server crashes it can take a few hours for someone to notice.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/11/18 12:06 AM

I did manage a little session earlier today. It certainly ran a lot better but walking around the station I kept getting stutters. That's with 16 gigs of ram and the game installed on an SSD. I may actually be able to learn the game now it's playable.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/11/18 12:36 AM

The funny thing is that 2 patches ago it was extremely stable (wednesday) but then they decided to push it to live and the next two patches were extremely unstable. God only knows why they decided to push an unstable patch to live on friday right before a weekend that they know they wont have anyone on staff to fix errors for.

They make some bad decisions sometimes. I think maybe they felt they HAD to becasue CR said on thursday that it would be live and they didnt want him to lie about a deadline AGAIN. lol

yes I get stutters as well at the station, though once in my spacecraft all is fine

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/11/18 04:00 PM

The insurance on spacecraft is a bit concerning and I really do not understand it.

I would like to go into the game and exit without losing my Aurora, but is seems by quitting the game you lose your ship(while in flight).

I assume you have to land and exit the ship in order for it to be okay.

I've lost ships by losing internet connection, and this maybe okay for now as Master IIRC you helped set me up with LTI on my Aurora, that's life time insurance, right? If that's true, that's pretty sweet!

My concern is if I purchase another spacecraft with no LTI and the cost to maintain through insurance smile

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/11/18 11:15 PM

The current version of the game doesnt really have insurance. Any ship you own will be replaced for free an unlimited number of times or you can pay a small fee to expedite it's respawn.

To make sure your ship is save you have to land at a starbase, outpost etc and then your ship is stored but sometimes you might spawn at a different base if your ship is stored somewhere that is over full of people. So you then have to file a claim on your ship so it is replaced at the base you are at now. Its confusing etc.

But for now, you dont have to worry about every losing your ship though you might end up at some places where you cant spawn your ship (like some of the planetside outposts only spawn land vehicles.)

You can buy some ships in game with in game money now but im unsure how the insurance works on them. If you buy a ship with real money and the insurance runs out (ie 2 year insurance and its been 2 years since the game went into FULL release v1.0 (which is when they will start counting insurance times)) they have said that you will still be able to retrieve your ship but it will cost more money than what buying in game insurance for it would have costed.

My personal opinion though is that you shouldnt buy any ship for real money unless it have LTI and even then, as of right now I dont think it is a good idea. But they also have a CCU open which allows you to upgrade your ship and keep that ship's insurance. so if you wanted to upgrade your aurora lti to an avenger that might be feasible.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/11/18 11:45 PM

Master, how do I know if I have LTI? I bought the Aurora package,at the time it was the cheapest option to get into the game.

Go to your hangar on the website.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/pledges

and scroll through all the stuff there till you find your package. Then the arrow on the right to expand the content of the package. It will say straight out what level of insurance comes with it.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/12/18 10:56 AM

Thanks. This is what I have...

Starting Money: 1,000 UEC
3 Month Insurance
Digital Star Citizen Manual
Star Citizen Digital Download
Squadron 42 Digital Download
Digital Squadron 42 Manual

So,I must be out of insurance then. When I tried out 3.3 I launched into space and then later just quit without landing. Does that mean I have to pay (I assume in UEC currency) to get a new one?

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/12/18 02:19 PM

Insurance length only takes affect after full game v1.0 launches which is more than a year away right now.

If you spawn in and your ship is destroyed just file an insurance claim for free at the ship console where you normally request. There might be a minute or so delay for it to be replaced. But with a starter ship it should be instant. Some larger ships have a 15-30 min wait or a 5 minute expedited time if you pay in game money.

There are still a lot of bugs that can lose you your ship but until it goes full 1.0 release your ship insurance wont count down. No worries there. On the flip side though every major patch will reset your in game progress. So if you save up in game for a new ship youll lose everything you earned when 3.4 releases. Major patches release every quarter so youll reset 4 times a year minimum.

One of the reasons people buy bigger ships with real money is so they dont get reset to just their starter ship every patch. Kind of makes the game pay to win in its current state.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/12/18 03:54 PM

Also, there is a yearly sale at end of november. it is their "anniversary sale". Ships bought then normally have extended insurance. So if you have 3 months insurance you can check the melt price and if its the same price during the same melt your package and rebuy a new package with higher insurance. Just make sure the package contains everything listed. Your package shows sq42 which I dont think comes with the new game packages (it is sold separately)

It is something to look into though and there is plenty of time to figure it all out first.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/13/18 01:48 AM

It looks like things are moving really fast with 3.3.5 on the PTU for the 1st wave already. I didn't expect things to go that fast, but this is great since I was way more keen on flying 3.3.5 than 3.3

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 11/13/18 01:54 AM

Yea, most of the game stopping bugs were OCS related for 3.3 so once they got those down the 3.3.5 went really fast since it is mostly a content dump.

Im excited to have the new content to explore though! Screen shots IB soon!

As soon as it actually copies my account to the PTU which seems to be taking over an hour.

I removed a post I made earlier asking for help. I answered some of my own questions after some googling but as far as I am concerned this 'game' sucks the big one. I'm deleting it for now,I'll come back sometime next year,or perhaps 2020,or maybe 2021.

The next major patch (q1 2019) is supposed to redo all the flight models and make combat good again. (lot sof people played the new flight models last month andsaid it was a vast improvement.) Not sure if thats even part of what you dont like about it but it's on of the major things Im waiting on.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 12/20/18 09:28 AM

Basically I played my first ever mission since owning the game. Whilst I was retrieving a crate from inside a wrecked ship someone came along and destroyed my ship. What sort of gameplay mechanic is that? Then I have to wait 5 minutes for a new ship. How do I prevent that? I also understand that someone could also steal my ship. Can a ship be left with the door shut and be impervious to theft?

Then I had an issue using the quantum drive. It activated but the ship went nowhere. That could have been an error on my part,I'm not sure but I had been using it ok minutes earlier.

There's a lot of asshatery going on out there right now, and an asshat found you. Just one of the joys of online gaming. I'm interested to see how some of the upcoming "law and order" mechanics will curb this behavior, if at all.

You can't, that's the insurance claim time to get a new one. At least you're not waiting 15 mins like I do whenever I lose my Cutlass! Even my Arrow is 7 minutes. You can pay extra credits to expedite the retrieval if you don't want to wait that long.

No, you have to lock it via the context menu when you're in the cockpit. You'll see an option that says "Press to Lock" and "Press to Unlock." Click "Press to Lock" to lock your ship if you don't want anyone to steal it.

I've had that happen, so what I do is move my marker off the destination, move it back on then re-calibrate/spool. That's fixed it every single time so far. It could also be the cooldown time. Sometimes it shows for me, and sometimes it doesn't. The joys of a buggy "alpha"!

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 12/21/18 11:14 PM

What he said.

But I agree. It has two major problems right now. 1, there isnt enough content so once the really dedicated asshats get bored they tend to go hunting noobs. Many games have this problem. I wish there was a solo / friend mode like elite has. 2, most of the missions are poorly designed or designed in such a way that they have multiple people going after the same thing. For instance you might get assigned to retrieve cargo and 5 more people will take the same mission but there is still only one cargo box. They do this to force PvP which I hate.

There isnt any work around for it right now. They have promissed an "offline / pve mode" but its probably very far out. So yea, if thats a deal breaker you should give up for now.

Though with the new moons etc it has gotten better since people are spaced out more but it'll probalby never fully go away. They seems to WANT that sort of design in their missions. They should at least tag the missions pvp / pve so you know when you take it.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 12/22/18 09:39 PM

I got an e-mail from RSI today about Alpha 3.4 being released. So,I decided to re-download the game and try again. I took the Covalex Shipping Hub mission.

This time it all went well although navigating around the derelict got a little confusing at times and took me a lot longer to complete than I had hoped. I couldn't understand why I couldn't complete the mission and eventually noticed the 'submit' button. duh

By this time I'd had an oxygen alert going off for some while and with no way of topping it up I started to panic because I couldn't find my way out of the ship. Anyway,I found the exit point and that space walk back to the ship seemed to take forever but I got there just in time. So,back to the base, landed and that was it.

A much better experience all round then and no asshats to be seen biggrin

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 12/24/18 01:35 PM

You got lucky. Every time I did the covalex shipping hub mission pre 3.3 it was full of scummy griefers who would shoot you and or blow up your ship as you were finishing the mission.

The game is a lot better without griefers for sure.

Re: 3.3 to Live 3.3.5 to PTU soon - 12/24/18 03:47 PM

Yup,it needs an Elite style 'solo' mode.
