Team Fusion update - Feb 28th 2014 - Ditching the collar and tie - 03/01/14 09:42 AM

Today's update shows a long term bug finally destroyed by Team Fusion!

Many months were spent looking at one of the really irritating issues that for some reason defied detection.

The issue of the Ai Pilots and crews deciding to wear their dress uniform into combat! Fortunately one of the newer members of Team Fusion had been 'tinkering' with this effect and shared it with the rest of the team for testing.

One issue that came to light was that Pilots wearing Irvin Flying jacket would often 'clip' through the side of the Spitfire, so part of the jacket was visible on the outside of the aircraft fuselage.

Queue more work and now the Pilots fit inside the aircraft perfectly and wear authentic flying/combat uniforms (well at-least in comparison to dress uniform!).

Work on other features is still continuing, although work on any new additions for TF v4.2 has now stopped and Beta testing, especially on FM/DM is intensively underway.

News will follow once we have a date we expect to release v4.2.

Cheers, MP/TF

Maybe they all thought of going out, now they are back in service. I don't know if they are happy now. I wouldn't, but I'm not an AI so I'm very happy with it.

Unfortunately, very few RAF BofB pilots wore the Irvin flying jacket, most had collar and ties on when flying. And thats straight from a few of the very pilots themselves

I'm with Puff, most images I've seen of RAF BoB pilots are in their uniform, including collar and tie.

I would imagine they have just fixed a bug, not defining the Irvin flying jacket as the only outfit option.

Both, and...

Thanks for the replies guys. Currently the clothing they wear would be generic to all Ai pilots, so it would be one suit fits all. Looking at your images of the RAF Pilots it seems that the main thing that needs changing is the head wear when actually flying?

Of the two following images then, which do you think would look the most authentic...sadly it can't be both, but your Pilot can wear what he wants wink

The ideal (I know that game dont allow wink ).

First pilot for fighters.

Second for Blenheim (and Tiger Moth)

Good pictures here:

And to complicated the things, for German aces too. rofl

1st image, but I wouldn't delay 4.2 for it if it was going to take a long time to do... wink

Hi Mp/TF
1st image gets my vote given a generic choice for summer 1940.

Re: Team Fusion update - Feb 28th 2014 - Ditching the collar and tie - 03/02/14 09:22 PM

Okay, (RAF discussion) so if we could get Pilots only to wear Image 1 clothing and any crew to wear Image 2, this would mean all single engine fighter Ai wear Image 1 clothing (popular vote) but if the aircraft were multi crew, the Pilot would be wearing Image 1 clothing and the crew would be in Image 2 clothing? Is that a compromise?

It's that or everyone in the crew wears image 1 clothing?

Re: Team Fusion update - Feb 28th 2014 - Ditching the collar and tie - 03/02/14 10:29 PM

I'll go with the compromise even though it's probably not historically accurate. BoB fighter pilots looked like image 1 because they were not in the air for long and often had to run to their machine to scramble. Multi-crew plane pilots didn't have to scramble and were airborne for longer - more time to get cold. Life is all about compromise and this one is much better than what we have at the moment. smile

I think that MP propose is a good compromise, close to some Blenheim crews:

RAF have some "flamboyant" too: smile

Looking at just the Luftwaffe and Italian Pilots only (not crew).

Thoughts?

Luftwaffe Pilot:

Aeronautica Pilot

Sadly I can't zoom the Luftwaffe pilot in in the game viewer, but it is a Black Leather jacket and black fur collar

These Italian bomber pilots (in Belgium) looks like the caricature in the plane. smile

cheers

Brilliant news !!!!!!!

It's been a long standing immersion killer for me, especially when flying in the Blenhiem.

The compromise, if you can really call it that, is my preferred option. Irvin suits, if I remember correctly were issue for bomber crew but had to be privately purchased (purloined) by fighter pilots. The real bug bear though was less the clothing and more the head dress, so anything that resolves that is bloomin brilliant.
