6th scale RC twin turbine F-22 raptor - 04/12/10 07:44 PM

Good day all!

I thought I would share news of this project in the works. and additionally as a question. We plan to do some video captures from sims and run them on small lcd screens in the raptor model cockpit. I know that the game T.a.w f-22 sim game is very popular but Im wondering if anyone knows anything about how realistic the actual screens and symbology are? your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanx Bullet. I will probably use the T.A.W fraps video captures even if they arent accurate . I suppose I can always upgrade if there is a better option later.

Just curious... What are your expected cost for this? It's awesome!

Hello Counterman.

Admittedly they are costly projects. Im my case, being able to build the plane and all the systems except the engines means that the engines is where most of the cost will be for me.

Are you going to use the turbines cost starting at 2,500 and up or are you going to use the tubofan cost around 300.00 and up. You picked one project that will be fun from start to finish

Hi JT89

This is definitely an actual turbine project. at 6th scale, the raptor is about 10 and a half feet, so real turbines are the only true option.

Thats a good looking Raptor. But I could never do that my patience goes as far as 1/48 planes =)

Thanx Fellas!

Seems like everything is expensive these days right? Gosh I remember the old sims on the amiga 500 and amiga 2000 systems. DIRT cheap compared to the bucks you can drop today!

The large scale ones I was seeing at the 9th Jet World Masters here this week were $35K and up.

And this is how at least one of them ended up after a cross wind landing gone very wrong.

Not flyable, but if you happen to be into F-14s:
