  • To cancel Dogfight or MRM override modes, press [c].
  • To activate nosewheel steering, press [Shift+\].
  • The key command for the Idle Detent Switch is [ALT+i], not [SHIFT+i] as stated in the manual. The idle detent switch can also be activated by clicking on the left-hand pinky on the throttle grip.
  • Radar Contact flashing red? What it means... - Dead Link need updated information if available
  • You see a black screen when launching F4AF and the Intro movie is not visible. - Fix located HERE
  • My Weapons loadout and/or TacRef screen is black, HELP! Issue is with ATI/ nVidia and Anti-Aliasing. Read how to fix the issue HERE!

Allowed modifications are:

  • Models and Model Textures
  • Terrain Textures
  • Tactical Engagements / Training Missions
  • Documentation
  • ACMI
  • Squadron Patches / Pilot Pictures
  • User created content originating from and created by the FalconAF executable

If approved, they'll be distributed via the autoupdater. We hope everyone understands that a centralized and organized system of modifications is the only way forward. We cannot stress enough that Lead Pursuit remains totally committed to maintaining the highest levels of stability in both single player and multiplayer, and of course maintaining levels of realism too.

People wishing to submit modifications need to download the TPAA form from our downloads section, fill it in appropriately and send it back to us via fax only at +1 512 275 3808.

We're confident this is a great way for community developers to become engaged in the simulation and start to get those creative juices flowing once again. We're also gathering questions on the TPAA to prepare a FAQ so that everyone has access to the questions and answers so they too can participate in this opportunity to make their mark on Falcon 4.0: Allied Force. Known Bugs:
  • The key command for the Idle Detent Switch is ALT+i, not SHIFT+i as stated in the manual.
  • CTD when using easy avionics and a contact leaves the radar display
  • Intro movie is not visible sometimes when certain antialiasing levels are enabled - Fix located HERE
  • Cockpit mouse cursor disappears when antialiasing is enabled
  • Keyboard commands for rudder may not work when a joystick rudder axis is present

Known Issues:
  • TrackIR functionality in the 2D cockpit is odd. A good solution to avoid TrackIR use in the 2D cockpit is to pause/disable the TrackIR in 2D and unpause/enable it in 3D; this can be accomplished in a single button press with a programmable joystick or HOTAS.
  • Additional NICs must be disabled when flying multiplayer on a PC with more than one network interface

Novice,

That Radar tutorial you have listed is pretty nice for those of us still needing to "paint by numbers" so to speak hehe.

Did'nt see any links or who it was made by though and was wondering if there where any more?

Maybe one should add a word or two about the "hidden" Idle-detent-switch under the left finger in the panel with the throttle. It isn't mentioned in the manual.

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 09/23/05 06:43 AM

Small bug and work around. Getting the joystick mapping to "stick". It seems it is necessary to create a new copy of the keystrokes file, make your changes to map button x to function y, save it. You then need to exit the game and restart it to get the changes effective. My theory is that the keystrokes file associated with a pilot profile is loaded into memory when the game starts and possibly (haven't tried it yet) when you change pilot profiles and doesn't get reloaded when you maintain the file - so you don't see changes until next time the game starts.

Cheers,
Stonehouse

- Is it possible to land on a carrier?

Neo has provided a nice writeup on his experience with a successful carrier landing and takeoff. I tried this myself but didn't manage to stop, so I turned it into a touch and go. You can see the video from my attempt in the 72nd VFW\'s Gallery . Just click on "Carrier landing attempt - by Coder" under the "Movies" section.

- Is it possible to start a mission from a carrier?

This does not appear to be possible at the current time. Perhaps this will be added in a future patch/expansion pack/etc.

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 11/07/05 07:43 AM

OK it has been brought to the attention to LP that when running a server, anytime a news report comes up that it crashes the server, I hae heard (rumored) that they know and that they were fixing it. QUESTION: Somone got the movies working that go with the news reports, could it be that the reason the server was crashing was/is because the game is looking for a movie that isn't there......?????? The movies worked with patch 1.08 and that is where LP took over and built off of. Well hopefully I will have an answer for you guys shortly, over at Mulivipers we are testing this theory, he has tested putting in the -nomovies into the command prompt and was very successful experiance; far less crashes although they still happened, now we shall see if this is the problem.....will keep you guys posted but would like to hear from LP on this issue.

Okay I am a total newb, when you are trying to reach SAR it says in the Mbreif to contact on CH3 ummm how you do this, is it just the Q-9 "send in the choppers" ? because I have racetracked a downed wingman till I couldnt stand it waiting for a helo well within 30Km of FLOT.
Thanks again

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 09/26/07 06:44 PM

Q-9 is all you have to do. AFterwards you can just fly home, most of the time on "Guard" you may hear the SAR guys respond with "1 down pilot spotted..." or something similiar ;\)

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 04/02/14 03:59 PM

Hi!

I have a little problem with F4-AF 1.0.13. In the campaign screen all flight, division helicopter etc labelled Slovenian. Not a shostopper just a little annoying. Reading Slovenian A-10A struck serbian division a little out of feel.
Posted By: MigBuster

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 04/02/14 10:39 PM

That was a bug in the program - it likely wont ever be fixed in AF.

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 05/02/14 02:28 PM

Thx MigBuster. Could you elaborate on "if you are worried about gfx then you are out of luck with AF"
Posted By: schnidrman

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 05/02/14 05:03 PM

There is no more support from LP and likely no new mods to come. When I played AF last year, the only improvements I could find at that time were HiTiles and the Skunkworks mod. Also I believe that LP sacrificed some gfx for stability in their programming. BMS has full support and quite a few modders out there sharing their work, including AC skins, better terrain tiles, clouds, theaters of operation, cockpits, etc.
Posted By: hunter64

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 05/03/14 01:07 AM

You're right Schnidrman, BMS is at a whole different level from AF. I had BMS 1 through 5 on my previous system when it blew. BMS had a learning curve that I really didn't have the time to absorb as a pretty casual player and coupled with a web site which I had trouble staying on I may be better off enjoying AF as opposed to being frustrated with BMS.
I appreciate your response.

Re: Falcon 4: Allied Force FAQ - 05/04/14 12:06 AM

What's the problem with BMS? If you have any questions, I know a couple of other guys that visit SimHQ as well and among us, we can probably answer most of your questions. I used to fly AF but that was years ago.

As said above really - its stuck in some pre DX 9 nightmare - the only way that would change is if any old LP members were still working on the source code and released a DX9 - 11 version for modern hardware - I wouldnt hold my breath on this.

From 2005 to 2009 LP must have been working on something not only AF patches - wonder what happened to all that work!

BMS also has far more modern avionics/weapons - in AF you only had LGBs, dumb bombs and the old limited AAQ-14 LANTIRN - so its doesn't really go past 2000 in that sense.
