Initial intent was a P-51 1vs1 BFM contest but according to general feedback, DCS World's MP is not very stable yet and ED is obviously working hard on a patch to fix that. Meanwhile, SA is glad to announce its 1st FC2 1vs1 BFM tournament.

Rules(please read carefully):

- 1 vs 1 BFM competition (guns only).
- Best of 3 rounds with knock out stages.
- Event type : STT (Short Term Tournament).
- Minimum players for the tournament to start : 16
- Maximum players before closing the sign up : 32
- Top 8 players will earn SA points.
- Event rating will be determined according to the average SA Ranking. The higher the rating, the more points at stake.
- Players will be seeded according to SA Rankings.
- Map will be ready soon for download. (Ramp start. Initial distance between opponents about 100km. Bases will be protected by short range SAM's)
- Authorized payload : Cannon only
- External views and padlock prohibited
- Free fuel setting.
- Both players have to take off simultaneously, reach the target zone on time and stay within the CAP area for at least 3mn. Exiting the CAP bubble too early is considered a loss regardless of the round outcome.
- To collect the round, players must neutralize opponent (actual kill or tactical kill), RTB and land on home base.
- 1 refuel/rearm is allowed per round for each player.
- Players can alternate hosting and swap air bases after each round.
- Final scores have to be reported here using the comments section below.
- In case of a dispute, players have to upload their track using the upload widget located on the sidebar.

Re: Situational Awareness - Online magazine for Simulation Multiplayer - 10/10/12 07:04 AM

SA Magazine is proud to announce the launch of ‘SA Battles’, a new Multiplayer combat league starting this month as a SA Rankings official T.M.C event (Tactical Mission / Campaign).

SA-Battles has been created to give the multiplayer community more events and the chance to work as part of a large scale organized coalition with realistic objectives and missions.

Events will be split into 2 different formats.

First is the traditional Red vs Blue with both teams having equal air and ground assets just like previous OPFOR events.

The second format will mirror the real world Red Flag operation as close as possible with an outnumbered RedFor taking on an extremely capable BluFor. RedFor pilots for the Red Flag events will be invited to compete based on SA rankings and Squadron performance to take on the best of the rest in a fight outnumbered at least 2to1 with a very clear objective….. defend!

The event missions will be large scale and engineered to replicate modern day air war objectives. Both sides in all SA-Battle events will be fully complimented with EWR and AWACS assets from the off. We have chosen to steer away from the traditional ‘Target Area’ set up for SA-Battles, instead the ground war will exclusively focus on the SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defence)assets and EWR stations. The ‘air war’ is all about total air supremacy over friendly ground stations and the protection of AWACS and Tanker assets, this results in both teams having to plan very carefully in the assignment of CAPs and managing the number of aircraft available during the 4 hour competition.
Red and Blue sides will both be lead by a Force Commander (FoComm) the selection of the FoComm will be done on an application basis through the new SA forum.

Re: Situational Awareness - Online magazine for Simulation Multiplayer - 05/19/13 11:38 PM

SATAC is a Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 3 Force on Force match based community event for Air Superiority virtual squadrons and wings. This event has been initially created by the 51st PVO Regiment in 2011 but got postponed since then. Now with FC3 officially released, we feel this could be the right moment to finally run this exciting contest of teamwork and proficiency and what better air combat simulator to host such showdown than DCS World.

Many squadrons are very active online and run advanced training programs for their pilots. FC1 era has seen RvE on top as they won the FORTIS dogfight championship twice. With FC2, we have seen the undefeated 51st PVO regiment in the spotlight with more than 20 wins in a row over many squadrons between 2008 and 2011.

Will RvE resuscitate to claim the 2013 crown, will 51st come out on top and prove teamwork and discipline unbeatable, will 104th experienced and talented pilots prevail or will we witness the rise of a new squadron?

SATAC 2013 is the next episode and the online battlefield has never been fiercer, who will rise to the challenge and shine as the ultimate 2013 Air Superiority virtual Squadron?

Joint Warrior 3 is the 3rd sequel of our Joint Warrior tactical battle series for Digital Combat Simulator, which we started a few months ago in association with both, the 104th Virtual Fighter and Bomber Squadron and the 51st PVO Regiment.

After the success of JW1 an JW2, here we come again for more action inviting DCS pilots across the globe to join us for another night of force on force air combat.

Joint Warrior 3 is the perfect opportunity for those who would like to improve themselves as DCS combat pilots as we will once again have some of the finest pilots out for blood.
Beyond the competition aspect itself, JW is also a great gathering of people sharing the same hobby and an excellent opportunity to forge new friendships and interact with some of the most iconic squadrons on the DCS scene.

Re: Situational Awareness - Online magazine for Simulation Multiplayer - 11/05/15 09:14 PM

We are proud to announce that the second round of the DCS Top Gun BFM competition will start on Saturday 14th of November 2015. Top Gun R2 is at the name implies a guns only PvP competition meaning that the only weapon that the jets will be allowed to carry is the cannon.

This event will be hosted by TAW crew (The Art Of Warfare) on their dedicated servers running the latest 1.5 version of DCS world. TAW have been contributing in many ways to the success of our past events so we are glad to see them evolving into official partners alongside the 104th Phoenix and the 51st PVO.

The mission itself is a courtesy of 104th_Stuge and we would like to thank him for his top quality work in putting all the pieces together to come up with an accurate and professional DCS mission dedicated to dogfighting.

Only PFM-equipped modern fighters will be used, i.e, The Su-27 Flanker and the F-15C Eagle; the competition will also feature two separate draws: 1v1 and 2v2.

This is an SA-sanctioned PvP competition and as such it will count for the DCS air-to-air rankings.

Full details of the event are available here: http://sa-sim.com/top-gun-round-2-fo...november-14th/

There is also a prizepool and some interesting features, so make sure you check out the link above!

"Online magazine for Simulation Multiplayer".

Very nice site, well done.

Question though: at the risk of sounding like a fanbois, why no content about the other big online player, FalconBMS?

I got a little excited when I saw "online magazine", thought it was a reincarnation of the genre like the old Debrief Magazine.

Hey Boomer

Glad you like the site.

We have tried to involve BMS in the past but they were not keen to join the competitive PvP scene. Maybe we did not address the right person. We will try again as we still think BMS is still going very strong.

The 5th round of the Joint Warrior battle series is over and what a great action-packed event it was! Here is what in my opinion stood out from the two prelims and the final battle:

WHO WERE THE TOP MVPS THIS TIME AROUND?

Sweeper from the Fighting 99th Air Wing made a strong impression in the final battle after missing the preliminary match. The American Eagle driver pulled off an amazing performance claiming 4 kills and leading team Red to final victory over in their final clash against team Blue led by the 104th.

After missing the latest events, the Su-25 guru Wizard from Death Wings (UVAF squadron) made a resounding return into the spotlight; the Ukrainian striker has been a nightmare to his opponents pulverizing nothing less than 27 ground targets worth a total of 240 points!

This is an Allied vs Axis type WW2 dynamic campaign made of several rounds with plenty of exciting features and immersive gameplay. It runs every Saturday at 9PM Eastern Standard Time for the North American division.

We are looking at starting another division for those interested but unable to participate because of timezone constraints. You just need to post what times would work best for you on a Saturday and we'll take it from there.

The maiden battle took place last Saturday and Axis forces were able to gain a slight advantage over the Allied forces (See Full Report Here).

The war has just begun and the next battle is expected to take place on this Saturday.

Although stats are being tracked and performances counting towards the player rankings, you are welcome to join us regardless of your experience provided you can fly either a P-51, a Bf-109 or a Fw-190.

This campaign has a lot of features and possibilities in terms of gameplay, please read more about it here:

Re: Situational Awareness - Online magazine for Simulation Multiplayer - 08/06/16 02:23 PM

Shahdoh’s WWII campaign hit week 6 with both teams still fighting tooth and nail but on very low resources.Commanders and their pilots are taking more and more risks in an attempt to prevail on the battlefield.

While Axis have lost almost 2/3 of their armed forces, they still can rely on experienced pilots led by the current top Ace Wilzah who is the author of 6 confirmed aerial kills with no losses in 5 sorties. Axis have also a tiny bit more resources.

Following the success of the first F-5 Tiger vs MiG-21 Fishbed Grudge Match held a few weeks ago, team Ramsey is pleased to announce the second iteration of this exciting PvP event. The most glowing feature about this event is that once again, it will be live streamed on Twitch and commented by Ramsey himself! We will also have Dolphin in the house! Dolphin is a real life MiG-21 pilot and it will be very interesting to pick his brain and listen to his insight about the MiG-21 in DCS in particular!

We are also very pleased to announce Leatherneck Simulations has officially joined our growing list of Sponsors & Partners, and is generously providing a free copy of the upcoming DCS: AJS-37 Viggen to EACH MEMBER of the winning team in Round 2, along with an additional copy to be awarded to the match MVP! You read correctly- the winners of Round 2 will be proud owners of the much anticipated DCS: Viggen by Leatherneck Simulations! Thank you Leatherneck Simulations! We are honored to have you on-board!

The event is also co-sponsored by Maple Flag Missions who will be providing free T-shirts to the winners!

The Grudge Match Series has come back for another epic battle in DCS World!
This time around, Hook will take you to the heart of a 6v6 epic aerial battle that will oppose the recently released Spitfire backed by the P-51 Mustang to Luftwaffe’s dreaded Me109 and Fw190.

This epic match will take place in the Caucasus map but will celebrate the upcoming release of the eagerly awaited Normandy map for DCS World as each member of the winning team will walk away with a free copy of this amazing Terrain, generously provided by DCS creators, Eagle Dynamics!

We are very proud to have Eagle Dynamics on board as an official sponsor and we will do our very best to provide our viewers with an action-packed showdown on Saturday, February 18th from 1900z live on Twitch!

As in the previous Grudge Match, both teams will be sharing one common target area so the main task for all contestants will be to attack enemy assets while protecting friendly ground troops.

Here are a few eye candies of the upcoming Normandy map, which is still work in progress. Every player from the winning side will be provided with a free copy from Eagle Dynamics upon release.

A ladder-based tournament system has been launched on SA-SIM.COM!

Unlike regular events where participants have to show up on a date and time set by the organizers, this ladder format lets players compete at their own pace through challenging each other at will, then agreeing on a match date and time at their convenience.

Once the match is over, either player can report the score via the website then once it is confirmed by both parties, it gets validated and processed automatically by the ladder system. If challengers win, they swap positions with whom they challenged so the purpose is to try to make your way to the top of the ladder!

We have currently 2 ladders up and running for DCS:
1v1 BFM in the F/A-18 and 1v1 BFM in the F-14!

Any ladder can be easily created if there is enough demand, so do not hesitate to voice your wish if you'd like to see you favorite DCS ride featured too.

Also, it doesn't have to be 1v1 - TvT ladders can also be created with ease. Therefore, if you are a team/squadron leader, let me know so I can grant you necessary privileges to create your team on the website then invite your squadron mates to join. From there, team leaders can then join any TvT ladder and start challenging other teams.

There are too many new goodies on the website to go over in detail here, so I'd rather invite you to login or create an account on SA-SIM to have a look!

We hope that the flexibility of this new ladder system will allow more people to try competition in the time-frame of their preference.

Any player who joined a ladder can decide at any moment to leave, all it takes is pushing a button and you are out. No questions asked, no strings attached. You can rejoin at any time and try again from scratch with fresh stats.
