Installing and playing Comanche Gold on NATIVE Windows 8/8.1
Method:
1. Install Comanche Gold.
2. Install the CG Windows Vista/7/8 Fix (be sure to read the install instructions very carefully).
3. Install DXGL (a DirectDraw/Direct3D to OpenGL converter).
4. Open the DXGL configurator.
5. Add a profile for CG in DXGL, and in both the 'Global' and 'Wc3.exe' profiles, make sure to tick all 4 boxes under the Graphics section.
Additional notes:
* When you install the game, Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit asks permission to additionally install DirectPlay - AGREE.
* Even with DXGL, it's still possible to use the Modded WC3.MNU menu hack (which allows higher screen resolutions, greater game detail, etc.)
