EECH 1.16.0 testing progress [ARCHIVE] - 12/04/15 03:36 PM

This patch is shared for testing purposes, please do not install it if you not familiar with latest Enemy Engaged mods!

From now DDS textures loading algorithm is changed - no need to flip texture during save. It's recommended to convert all textures to TGA, or flip your DDS images vertically. Currently all textures of the game itself and included mods was converted to TGA (except water), so some old mods that uses DDS textures became incompatible.

You can report about any troubles here, or in the relative threads (links below). Some bugs since 1.15.2 wasn't fixed because of several reasons, but work is still going on.

You can update any mod separately if new releases will be made by their authors. Three different version of water textures available, please check only one of them during installation (default is ver.1152).

As always, you can move here your old Pilot profile and EECH.INI file (just don't forget to change GWUT name in it).

Problem with background texture in apache left mfd cpg ,right too.Pilot also strange mfd background.
No new pilot model for helicopters?
with hardware rendering terrain disappear and flickering( the same i see in dx9 version)
game very often freeze for a second two.
In europe i have new rapota apache skin. in lebanon have old apache skin.
No new model russian carrier?I have old model.
In lebanon campaign no new russian airport?No new Soczkien winter textures included?

T&l =0 in *.ini always helped for me.
Theres 13 russian Airfields in game, currently only 1 is replaced. Others come soon.

yes i know, BUT in the previous version 1.152 everything worked normally, only test cockpit dx9 have problems.

it means for ever say goodbye hardware rendering? frown

1. Border Wars is available and playable, but Cuba Libre campaigns has problems - I told about it before that some non critical errors are there, but now they became critical and campaigns currently not playable.
2,4. confirm, graphics issues with hardware rendering

5. never noticed, is it happens in some particular situations? only for heavy campaigns maybe?
6. rapota didn't make season skins, he said about it in his thread
7. it's on testing stage, will be added next time

5 is only with hardware rendering, without all ok.
About Hr you are the master code, if you speak that hardware rendering It does not make sense , so it must be.
Just i know how many graphical improvements you have added in hr, and therefore is wasted work .

I've Dynamics problem since 1.16

The game is unplayable for me at flight model = 2. Helicopter goes very fast, make fast turns etc. spinning around.

Only when I set to default flight model everythigs back to normal.
I thought its something in my PC but i have this on Laptop too.
Anybody experienced it ?

I'm not responsible for rendering code so I can only guess - issues only of one rendering mode was fixed due to time limits.

We need to search any dynamics calculations in helis change betwen 1.15.2 and 1.16. maybe an any bug vaule was put somewhere, because like I said default FM works normally. Tested on keyboard. Also try at advanced fm put autopilot on and off - helis go like from catapult :P

behindcouch I do not think all ...... New sidelights on helicopters, visible in night fire wrecks, and gun tracers.
is not complaining, and I know you do not have time, just I like it and reporting wink
if all you can move from hr to software is no problem with hr.I did not know that so you can.

about dynamics problem. for some reason game rewrites dynamics configs for second FM every time you choose some helicopter so it get crazy lift gain value.

This is peculiar.

I had V1.15 on Drive C forever under C:\EECH 1.15 Mod.

It's not even named the default standard C:\Razorworks\Cohokum\etc etc

I did a clean install of EECH from CD to Drive D.

Then I install V1.16.0 to the new clean install on Drive D.

It runs fine.

But now if I go back and try to run EECH 1.15 Mod on Drive C, it's giving me EECH has blah blah error and Windows trying to find the error but it never does tells me what the error is and then it quits.

I can't no longer play V1.15!!

you can rename folder of 1.16 version so executable will not able to find game folder (that configured in registry) and will load files from same folder from where cohokum.exe was launched. but I don't recommend it!
instead you can have both versions in one place - C:\Razorworks\Cohokum115\ and C:\Razorworks\Cohokum116\ for example and rename one of it to \cohokum before play.

Did the GWUT get changed too?

I got shot down on my very first game generated Default CAS mission in the Lebanon Campaign.

I got to within 6 KM of my targets and I just turned on my ground radar and the SAMS protecting the tanks at the CAS objective lit me up like a Christmas tree.

I was only able to get one Hellfire L away and I think I either damaged or took out ONE tank before my Comanche became a roaring fireball.

p.s.

I installed EECH1160RC4 PATCH but I haven't installed the 1.16 Airfield Mod v 1.2.7z.

Should I?

What's the difference?

YES You should.
Please always install new version available. It fixes bugs and add new features also can improve performance etc.

I know theres often new version release but I try always make new available when i fix something etc. Because i cant tell if I from tomorrow dont have time for eech for next 2-3 months.

I wasn't going to rename the GWUT.

Was just asking what in it has changed because in 15 years of playing EECH and the various EECH mods, I have never been shot down so quickly.

I barely had enough time to react to lock and fire one Hellfire missile.

there are no significant changes in GWUT - some new units was added (infantry and firing points). but several AI bugs was fixed so maybe it made enemy more dangerous. I know, it's already quite hard to survive but currently I'm trying to make AI works properly. maybe after wingmen became more useful game will be little easier, also radar cross section calculations will help but it's only plans.

More aircraft had this problem and it was fixed with 1.01 version. Maybe 1.0 was implemented?

I have only played about 20 min of it.

Couple of bugs that I found in 1.15 that I hope it's now fixed in 1.16.

Fixed wing aircraft stuck flying in a constant 360 loop around you when you are targeting them and attacking them.

Fixed wing aircraft flying vertically with their noses point down toward the ground while they are attacking ground targets and attacking other fixed wing aircraft.

The Lebanon default campaign.

I saved the game and the saved game won't run now.

Well, I did install the 1.16 Airfield Mod v 1.2 after the game was saved so I think that's what caused it.

So I deleted the saved game and started a new Lebanon default campaign from scratch and then saved it after playing about 30 min.

I haven't gone back to see if it will run from the saved game without CTD.

I can almost guarantee that's what caused it. Installing an update after a game was already saved. Then trying to reload that save. Sounds like the logical reason.

Did a clean install of EH and installed eech-allmods-1.16.0RC5 trying to figure out why my AA radar is not working. Now the palm trees are all upside down. Also, Joystick Throttle and cyclic are mixed up (none of these happened with eech-allmods-1.16.0RC4).

CG2015, yes this installer can be used only on clear EECH or for 1.16.0RC5 reinstall

The Punisher, as I said, some old mods became incompatible. wait until they will be updated.
can't say right anything about controls problems - I think nothing was changed since previous release, but I will check later. maybe you messed up with EECH.INI?

I haven't touched my ini file (except for flight_model=0 on back RC4, fortunatelly I made a backup of that ini file and controls are working fine after restoring it). I am curious why this didn't happened on RC4 and after uninstalling everything and going back to RC4 and now I still get the inverted palm trees.

Also, why is my Air to Air Radar not working.

I am not sure I get the question. Anyway, I will try to answer based on my understanding of it: I went back to RC4 because I didn't had the inverted palm trees before. Now, after installing / uninstalling RC5, I still have the inverted palm trees in RC4. Is that what you are referring to? Please let me know.

nope, I meant - it's obvious that this testing version was released for the people, who know a lot about this game. if I'm understood correctly - you didn't play EECH for a long time, so it will be wise to start from 1.15.0 or 1.15.2.

Tried that, didn't worked for me. As soon as I click OK to start flying, it stops working. So far I am familiarizing with 1.16 and liking it. My only remaining issues (so far) are the AA Radar and now the inverted palm trees (other trees are fine), plus a little bit controlling the helo as my joystick (old MS Sidewinder) feels "too loose" but I solved that with the help of simFB, now is just practice.

You have problem with lb1 lb2, now with eech. You have win 10 and I think this is your problem, or you have not properly installed windows or drivers.All versions eech working good for me, air radar work good.
Win 10 is generally #%&*$# and even for free I would not have touched.

okay, so let's start from the beginning.

about radar stuff. what manual_laser/radar value you have in EECH.INI?
do you know that there are two scan modes. you can change between them pressing Shift+(Num)/. is something happens, when you press (maybe even push) (Num)/ button?

Works fine in Ground mode, doesn't works on AA mode.

Nope. Get nothing. Radar is set to All targets, but nothing happens, no scan bar and no targets.

I am trying to understand the ini file. If you tell me the names of the variables, I can look at them.

I don't have problems with LB1...I can play it Win95 mode (only have problems in DosBox with the game not recognizing the mounted images). But the graphs are so outdated, I can barely distinguish the objects.

I have problems in LB2 after finishing a mission. This was solved in the past with the MS Compatibility ToolKit but it no longer works in Win10.

I can play newer games fine, from DCS flight sims, to the latest Ghost Recon or CODs (or even the old ones). Also some old games like Wing Commander series, Jedi Knight series, Delta Force series, etc, just have problems with older games.

manual_laser/radar - is a string name, it works both for ground and air radar but you can just ensure that it's disabled (set to 0)
maybe Home button can't be recognized by game properly (similar problems happens on some notebooks), try to apply it somehow to any of your flightstick button.

Thanks a lot XIII! Tried WinXP and Admin but in my frustration (have installed and uninstall different versions - 1.15, 1.16RC4, 1.16RC5 - around 7 or 8 times today trying to see which version would work better) forgot to try them together at the same time. I just did and AA Radar now works!

Now, as I understand, I just have to wait for a new version of the trees to fix the inverted palm trees....? I'll just try to fly a terrain that doesn't have those for now.

You can fly with rotated trees, it does not affect the game.
It's just reversed texture.
Let's hope that Soczkien will release the correct versions.

Delete all forest1, forest2 textures from general folder, download trees pack from drive. Copy all textures to general folder. Done. smile2

I just reinstalled RC5 until I can figure it out.

Download again. Theres Trees 1.3 , or 1.3 Medium or Low quality 1.2 all should now work correct.

My bad. I thought there was all 6 textures in trees 1.2 but was only 3. Now all 6 are included.

Search for forest textures in whole game Razorworks folder. Im sure somewhere should be another *.tga files. Game will use forest1.tga even if its in razorworks\cohokum folder or razorworks\common. It uses all texture files, the folders like camo , general are only for group "visually"

Searched the entire "raazor" folder and only found a reflection_forest.tga in textures\cammo.

I tried one of the files from your "Trees other textures" file and they also came inverted.

Here are the screenshots. As you can see in the first screenshot, the palm trees are upside down. In the second screenshot I tried one of the files from your "Trees other textures" (even the grass is hanging upside down in the air).

I had some time to test the RC.
Made a short solo flight, everything is working fine so far.

The Punisher, it's visual issue of last release, don't bother yourself trying to fix it. some default texture (not modded by Soczkien) should be replaced, I'll notify you when I will find solution.

GREY_TERRAIN_TREE_CROSS and LEBANON_TERRAIN_TREE_CROSS from textures\terrain\puerto rico should be upside down. Before patch was dds texture. And game make dds upside down. After conversion to tga it was not flipped and thats effect smile2

Yeah, even without Soczkien's "New Clouds", it looks great, with the new clouds is even better.

This is what happens when people can have their hands in improving a product and take it beyond what it originally was. As I mentioned in another post, I never liked the original EH, but this is not the original EH, this is far superior. Along with F4, this is an example of what a product can become with the heart and minds of the talented people of the community. Hats off to all of you guys (and girls).

hmm...something weird happened today. Was playing a Yemen Skirmish #1. After getting mission completed, I turned the Apache around and headed to a safe spot behind the mountains, then engaged the auto-pilot. As soon as I hit the auto -pilot, I got Engine one blown up (helo didn't crashed, just lost one engine). I though I was hit by an unseen enemy. I was frustrated so I quit the Skirmish and tried again....and the same thing happened. This time I triple checked there were no air or ground treads around.

I though "WTH is going on? so I decided to use the cheat (Ctrl+R) and go and look around and see if there was something I was missing. But then the helo wouldn't generate enough lift to go up. It went up to 50 or 60 feet then started descending again. I quit the mission and tried other missions within the same Skirmish. I was able to completed a few missions, then the same thing happened again.

On 1.16, sometimes the mouse pointer turns into 2 of them: one regular size and a smaller one below it and when you move the mouse, they both move at the same time.

This usually happens when I am clicking on SAVE on the top or ACCEPT MISSION on the bottom and it causes the game to minimize to desktop.

Do this (re-maximizing the game from the desktop) enough and the game will crash to desktop and I will have to restart it.

Things I've found while playing Skirmish in Yemen::

- Tents on top of the landing pads (Yemen) or overlapping (sometimes more than one tent)
- Wingman sometimes run into you. Happened while taking off and while turning into way-point.
- Apache wheels getting stuck on "something" when taking off (after switching from another mission)and getting engine damage if you keep trying to take off.
- While on the mission/chopper selection screen, sometimes it minimizes to desktop.
- Building textures not showing unless you fly REALLY close.

In a Grand Canyon campaign i want to strike the two enemy airfields. If I shot some hellfire and hit the targets, the game is crashed. I loaded savegame many times to find, what is the problem. I did it many times to try, what makes the game crash, but could not find. Something is near the airfield, if you hit that, then the game crashes.

This is the 1.16 with included airfield mod.

Known bug. Game looks for destroyed scenes and dont find them. Patch is coming but because of christmas time etc. I dont had time to release it. I will try upload as fast as possible

A KA Helix shot down my Comanche and the Apache Longbow wingman I had.

As soon as after we've detected them on radar and the alarm went off that he fired, we were gone.

He was also far away as in at least 5 1/2 km away.

Doesn't the Helix only carries the S-5 and S-8 unguided rockets?

There is no way those rockets would had hit both of us so accurately while flying over terrain from that far away.

What did V 1.16 do the GWUT?

Also, I haven't played previous versions but Campaign is ridiculously difficult. Can't unmask more than a few inches before getting a swarm of missiles coming my way.

Previous versions to 1.15.2 are toó easy. Current versión is difficult but no impossible so I finish a lot of campaings in difficult level in both sides. I think ridiculously difficult are words really wrong. I think the war is nothing easy. You must improve your skills, use the cover, flares and chafts, and try to avoid missiles.

you can not update 1.15.4 to 1.16.0.

you can remove (delete) 1.15.4 or back it up (just rename folder, where game currently is). after that make clean install of EECH (from CD or GOG version) and use 1.16.0 update.

I started the Taiwan campaign on the RED side and about 15 min into the game, I am not even in a mission, I was just looking at the map and available missions deciding on which one to take, the game crashed.

RS_MANPAD.EES has invalid reference to object "1d88" but not "1D88.LWO".
Moreover 1D83.eeo, 1D84.eeo, 1D85.eeo, 1D86.eeo won't be loaded. Such XXXX.eeo files are loaded from "objects" directory only. Please use proper names for scene object, starting from scene name.

I'm afraid I have no luck with loading your savefile - game crashes while loading map scenes. I suppose you did use latest 1.16.0 test version? tied both with and without Airflields mod.

are you talking about modded textures? maybe you using flipped DDS, now they should be normal (not flipped vertically).

Hi Thealx, not only dds textures, also bmp and tga textures are not shown like ah64d cockpit and fuselage in example or ch47d, i don't Know what's the problem i'm using 1.15.4 with clickable cockpits and eveything it's ok.

Yes, I work with FireBird.I do alternative KA 29

which would have suspended gun,side gun,wipers.FireBird fixes EXE files.As a basis we took the helicopter from version 1150 and rebuilt it
