I'm stuck with 4.10.1 (with HSFX), mainly because can't tolerate 4.11 AI porpoising during cruise. So I was wondering what about the rest of community.

Thanks,
GB

4.101 plus DBW1.4
I should probably update it to 1.71 but just can't be bothered. I like what mods offer but hate the complications they cause.

Please, do not consider mods as "Other" version of game: check 4.10.1, if possible!

Thank you,
GB

4.11, because, although it may not be perfect yet, the ai is now more realistic.

4.10.1 mainly because I had to reload the game a few months ago and decided to go to the most recent patch. This was shortly before 4.11 was released. I was at 4.09 for some time.

I've read about some hiccups with 4.11, so I'm holding off for awhile.

4.10.1 until HSFX6 comes out, then 4.11 or 4.11.1

Waiting for HSFX 6. I have a second install of 4.11, mostly to be ready for HSFX 6.

4.09. Why? Well, the main reason is the size of 4.10 and 4.11. The other is because they promise more challenging AI. Mind you, 4.09 AI pilots bully me every now and then, I don't need some smarter ones to completely ruin my day.

4.11

reason: multiple long overdue MP fixes and features, and most importantly AI gunners don't shoot at friendly bombers flying nearby and in totally opposite direction from the attackers

Waiting for HSFX to catch up and 4.11.1 to be released before it.

4.10.1 with dark blue world 1.71,HSFX 5.0. I'll switch to 4.11 with DBW1.8, HSFX6.

I still have a modded 4.09 install for when i want to hear again the best soudmod ever, called "ultimate soundmod" by a french modder nicknamed Tiger33, the one that fixed Oleg's SONAR, and has sadly discontinued his work with later DT patches (too many java classes to re-fix).

4.11 - I just can't go back. The AI makes it a much better single player experience. Throw in some add-on aircraft, some graphic/effects enhancement mods, some new sounds, and DCG and I am almost all set. Just waiting for a non-beta Mod Act for 4.11 (to get the rest of the sounds in) & an HSFX compatible version and I'll be in heaven.

I'm flying with 4.09 modded with UP 2.01

Because UP 3.0 doesn't play nice with DCG from Lowengrin and that's what I use to generate campaigns.

4.10.1 w HSFX 5.01 and a separate 4.11 install for now. When HSFX 6.0 comes out I will go there.. I like the improvements to 4.11.. but I also like the sounds in HSFX . and a few of the other mods.. 4.11 AI is definitely better.. they try to kill you .. not spiral climb away so that you have to turn away to make them predictably turn on you and try to nail them before the start the climb dance again..

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

As above. Why. Aakens FM mods have improved the "feel" and accuracy of the A/C IMHO. And also appreciating DBW. Fingers crossed Aaken is still pottering around and can get around to the criminally underdone USN aircraft. Although I do find the Wildcat F4-3 nicely nuanced in the stock game.

Good ole' U. S. of A.
I couldn't vote for more than one but I fly everything but 4.11!! I even have 4.08 on my hard drive and play it sometimes. I'll never play 4.11 unless they discontinue the unrealistic "bouncing" around. The reason is I like to fly formation and have honed my formation skills over the years. The only downside to this is I can't fly as the flight leader. But if the planes bounce around like they don't know how to fly, then I can't enjoy formation flying. TD should have a way to disable this!! Pilots in W.W.II flew in formation smoothly because anything else could lead to mid-air mishaps. Show me a W.W.II film of planes in formation bouncing and flouncing around. Nobody can produce such film, including the TD idiots....

Always the latest official version, i.e. 4.11 ATM.

4.09 brought mainly new wonderful maps and planes
4.10 gave us more realistic navigation and bombs
4.11 dramatically improved AI, refined bombs, introduced more realistic overheating, added some nice bombers, brought 6DoF

Does anyone think that those are not outstanding achivements?

Yes, AI has some quirks now, but

- more variable AI outweights these small issues like formation flying
- TD is working on the issues, so the fix will be here pretty soon
