Please, do not consider mods as "Other" version of game: check 4.10.1, if possible! Thank you, GB

4.09. Why? Well, the main reason is the size of 4.10 and 4.11. The other is because they promise more challenging AI. Mind you, 4.09 AI pilots bully me every now and then, I don't need some smarter ones to completely ruin my day.

4.10.1 w HSFX 5.01 and a separate 4.11 install for now. When HSFX 6.0 comes out I will go there.. I like the improvements to 4.11.. but I also like the sounds in HSFX . and a few of the other mods.. 4.11 AI is definitely better.. they try to kill you .. not spiral climb away so that you have to turn away to make them predictably turn on you and try to nail them before the start the climb dance again..
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

As above. Why. Aakens FM mods have improved the "feel" and accuracy of the A/C IMHO. And also appreciating DBW. Fingers crossed Aaken is still pottering around and can get around to the criminally underdone USN aircraft. Although I do find the Wildcat F4-3 nicely nuanced in the stock game.

I couldn't vote for more than one but I fly everything but 4.11!! I even have 4.08 on my hard drive and play it sometimes. I'll never play 4.11 unless they discontinue the unrealistic "bouncing" around. The reason is I like to fly formation and have honed my formation skills over the years. The only downside to this is I can't fly as the flight leader. But if the planes bounce around like they don't know how to fly, then I can't enjoy formation flying. TD should have a way to disable this!! Pilots in W.W.II flew in formation smoothly because anything else could lead to mid-air mishaps. Show me a W.W.II film of planes in formation bouncing and flouncing around. Nobody can produce such film, including the TD idiots....
